someone help me please

Hi everyone basically I'm abit confused about the exact breed of my dog. He is 18 weeks old now. I bought him from a breeder who owned the mum and dad. Anyway the other day I was out walking him and someone asked me what breed he is. I said he's a staff and he's said he's not because staffs have black noses. My dog is white with a brown patch on his eye and a brown nose so I said well what breed is my dog then and he said it's a pitbull. Now that got me thinking and got me worried so I asked the breeder and she said hes a full staff. I didn't get any papers with the dog. So I'm confused now so hopefully someone can shed abit of light for me. I'm new on here so don't know how to post pics of him but on my profile I'll put one on so please can someone just take a look and let me know. Thankyou

Where do you live? If in England I would say there is zero chance of him having any pitbull in him.

Hes lovely congrats im in no position to make a jugement i find alot of staffy pups can always look different,if you told me he had alittle bit of pitbull in him i would believe you however.not sure if its just the markings etc but yeah anyway hes alittle beauty so enjoy him i

He lookis like a Staffy to me too, it's highly unlikely that he has any PitBull in him, don't worry about this. If anyone ask you just say he is a Staffy. He is gorgeous

Apart from the colouring he looks exactly like my Bruno, who is definitely full staff as we have all the relevant papers.

Hi from the girlies and me  He looks like a Staff to me, he is gorgeous.

Many white dogs have a brown nose, especially if they have one or two brown patches - it's just lack of pigment! If every brown nosed dog was a pitbull, we'd have thousands of them just in the UK!

looks like a staff to me. never heard anyone make a judgement on a dogs breed purely on nose and eye color before!!!
Anyway the Pitt bulls nose color is predominately black, there are far less red nose than black nose around.

He is stunning. Just ignore the idiots that say he aint Staffy. Enjoy being owned by a Staffy

I'm willing to bet that if you look really closely you'll find that his nose is a dark charcoal grey!

I will try to not make this a Wall-o-text but I enjoy explaining the SBT (Staffordshire bull terrier) breed. I live in California USA, and here, there is a MAJOR "black mark" placed on "Pit breeds" This is mainly due to poor training, over breeding and neglect to the pit-bull breed, as well as the dog fighting history. So ( sadly ) naturally people are leery or scared of "pits". I have always loved pit bulls, boxers, pinchers, rots and many other dog breeds that get a bad rap.. So years back I started to do research on the SBT. First off, many people sell mixed pups as Full Breed SBT. This is what causes much confusion. If you are looking for a full breed SBT I would advise you to do the research on the breeders that you have in mind. I know here in USA most of the SBT Breeders know each other very well. Most reputable pure breed SBT breeders will want to give you papers and want you to Reg the pup with the AKC. These breeders have worked VERY hard on this breed and take it very seriously, allot of the breeders have a contract with you and some hold interviews if you are interested in purchasing a SBT. Sounds crazy to some but this is what is required to make sure the breed is not diluted. Many people purchase a puppy from a mill or some add they see on a place like Craig's list, this is a no-no ( in my opinion, if you are looking for a Pure Breed) Many will even try to pass off pure pit bulls as SBTs. There are a few breeds that many people just look as and yell "pit" - American Bulldog, American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Bull Terrier. There are many other Mix dogs that are also passed off as pits or one of the above. To the ill-informed person all these are just pits.. but once you take the time to research each breed and learn about them and there settle changes in appearance you will be able to learn which dog is what

The Common traits of a Pure breed SBT are ;

Short broad skull
Rose bud ears ( kinda look like a rose bud , or half pricked ) hard to explain lol
Normally they have dark eyes but the color of there coat can cause slight changes
Close coupled body
The tail is a medium length ( med size proportioned to there body )
There height is about 14-17 inches (just below your knee)
Males are about 27-38lb Females are around 22-34lb
The coat is short and smooth and could be a variety of colors ( black, white,blue, red,fawn brindle or the mix of any of these )

Most of the time you can tell if it is a pure SBT or not just by the height and weight - a pure breed SBT very rarely is out side the height and weight rating. Also as puppies it is very hard to tell, they all really start out looking the same and can go through crazy stages on they way to becoming a adult SBT

From the pics he looks the part but with out seeing him in person you can never really tell for sure. REGARDLESS he looks like a cute fun lil staffy so just treat him that way. Unless you are planning to do shows or breeding I would not worry about it like someone said, just say he is a staffy!

which i think is not good for the breed. I would be happy to see a capp on height.

Yes, but it would be impossible to do. There are thousands of stafford pups born every year, registered with the KC. It would be impossible to contact every one two years later to ask what height they are!

He looks Stafford to me but as others say without the papers etc and a certain amount of trust in the breeder you can never be sure that the story you are being told is the real one

As part ofGnarlymilk's post says , the only way to buy a stafford pup is by long careful research and from a reputable breeder.

You have what you have now and no point going into long posts about the correct ways and the wrong ways , your pups a little beauty and enjoy him
