Re: Help please :(
Aww poor rio, give your vet a ring or pop him the vets for a check up have you tried starving him for 24 hours? Or light meals? Chicken & boiled rice? (careful though some pooches are intolerant to chicken)
for rio.
for rio.

I wouldn't starve a pup for 24 hours - one meal, maybe but not a full day.Darcy-may wrote:Aww poor rio, give your vet a ring or pop him the vets for a check up :)have you tried starving him for 24 hours? Or light meals? Chicken & boiled rice? (careful though some pooches are intolerant to chicken)

As it's a week, I'd take him to the vets - pups can lose condition so quickly! In future, if he gets the runs try giving him two boiled eggs for a meal and see if that helps.

Always worth asking but unlikely to be food related if the food has not been changed ( unless the recipe has changed )Hayley wrote:What brand of food do you feed?
Could he be picking anything up in the garden ??

Re: Help please :(
I disagree, lexi was fed the same food for 8 years and suddenly went badly runny for no reason. I changed to wainwrights and she went normal poo again.

Re: Help please :(
No wagg isnt great at all, theres a great list on here and also james wellbeloved and wainwrights is always recommended by the users here aswell.
It's up to you at the end of the day i like my pup to get a good meat content and also listed as first on the list aswell as the other benefits you get with high quality grade dry food

Re: Help please :(
Yes wagg is not good I would find something better
This is our recommended list, but as said above Wainrights and JWB are also good
http://staffy-bull-terrier.com/dry_food
When changing food just make sure you do it gradually over 1-2 weeks

Re: Help please :(
Glad to hear his check up went well, have a look at pets at home, they often have offers on wainwrights & James well beloved.

Glad he is better!
Nana had diarrhoea for a week and it was because of her dry food, she was on Royal Canin Vet Pediatric Junior and it gave her diarrhoea!

Re: Help please :(
Hi we feed Vets choice pupy and Tip had been fine on it. No runny tums at all. We also feed pet mince and brown rice one a week. Hubby treats her with pet gravy on her food and we add an raw egg every second day to her dry kibble.
I would contact your vet if his stomach keeps running.

Re: Help please :(
Although I wouldn't worry too much, it wouldn't hurt to give your vet a ring in the morning.Beckyferg90 wrote:He has started passing a bit of blood should I worry???
Blood (bright red) in the poo is usually a sign of 'scouring' - ie the intestines have too much acid going through them, because of the runs, which strip the walls of their protective coating. Once the diarrhea is being treated the protective walls build up again & the blood will stop. If the pup is in the early stages of treatment for an upset tum then I wouldn't panic, but a phone call to the vet may set your mind at rest.
