iggy's eye won't fully open. the eye inside is reddish and around the eye is kind of swollen.
he doesn't want us to get near the eye.
today is sunday and the vets are closed. he has to wait until tomorrow.
should i give him eye drops ?

Re: help
Aww no poor iggy it looks so sore. Is there not an emergency vet marine? You could try batheing it with some cooled boiled water sweeping from the corner of the eye, outwards. I'm not sure about the drops with not knowing what's wrong. Hopefully someone will be along shortly who can offer a little more help.

Re: help
Ooh looks very sore, Vinnie had this not so long ago. Bathing with water will help but you defo need to get to the vets as Vinnie ended up with conjunctivitis and needed proper eye drops.
Let us know how you get on xx

Re: help
Might be that there is something in there causing the problem. A friends dog has the same a while back and it turned out to be a small stone trapped under the eye lid that needed flushing out.

Re: help
If it's a sting/bite then a Piriton might help.
Other than that (and bathing with boiled water) I'd see the vet.

Re: help
You've done the right thing in flushing it out. Could be a number of things, like conjunctivitis, foreign object in the eye, bacteria, etc.. I wouldn't put any eye drops in until you know what's causing it.
I think you've got the right idea with taking him to the vets tomorrow. Hope he feels better soon!

Re: help
Poor Iggy sounds like something has got into his eye and the vet will need to find out what it is. Meanwhile, bathing with cooled boiled water is the right thing to do.
Do let us know what the vet finds

Re: help
It could be a bee or wasp sting that caused the swelling, how is the eye today ?

Re: help
we woke up this moring and found iggy's eye back to normal no swelling no discharge nothing. just to be cautious we still went to the vet.
the vet did some stuff with his eyes and told me there was nothing wrong with them. i told him look again to be sure . he told me he was sure. he said it must have been something irritating his eyes yesterday but today it was all clear.
he gave me normal drops to irigate his eyes.
40 euros for 10 min of consultation ...oh iggy !
