6 Month Old Just Will not Listen

Hi Everyone,

I have 6 month old brindle boy called Jerry.  He's was the loveliest cuddliest little puppy in the land but recently he has stopped listening and responding when outside.  He used to be great off the lead (we live in the countryside with lots of fields so he is safe) and would come straight back, but now he wants to go the way he wants and if he sees another dog he's off at full speed to see them!  He will come back eventually but not until he's ready. When he is on his lead and sees another dog he will drag you all the way until he catches up to it and isn't phased by the fact he's nearly hanging himself.  I have read online that this is perfectly normal when they reach this age so I think I just need some reassurance.  We took him to puppy classes and he was the best heel dog there but something seems to have clicked and now he just pulls like hell.  We are trying to maintain the training but he's just not interested.  He loves his training treats but doesn't seem to care when he's out and about.  He gets plenty of excercize and is never tired.  Oh and he doesn;t even look at you anymore when you say his name

He's a teenager - knows everything, listens to nothing & nobody understands him! 

Yes, it's normal. Just go right back to basics as though you're starting from scratch with his training. Long training lead (30' or 50' if you have one) over the park & practice his recall & heelwork.

He will come out the other side as a nice, calm, mature dog. But you'll have to work at it first!

They will try there luck, you just need to be persistent with your training and they will learn.
