Post by kellylanders24 Tue Jul 02 2013, 18:47

Afew months ago a workman went to kick my pup and since then she wont go outside to toilet and only does it in the house. I`ve tried training pads, treats, going out every 10mins. I`ve tried everything i can think of. And now if she see`s a man with a hat or hoodie on she goes mental. And now i dont know what else to do with her. So if anyone has any tips to help me,i would be very greatful x

Back to basics and she will get her confidence back.......I wouldn't try pads just outside for walks etc and lots of praise.

Poor thing Sad Agree with the above, good luck I hope things improve. Is it just when they have a hat/hoody on? Just wondering if there is anyone who can help you to help her overcome this?

I wear a hoody round the house. She hates it, but when she realizes its me she gets all excited. But if were out walking and she see`s someone she goes mental. Its such a shame, because she was doing brilliantly with the training x

I wonder if you could somehow practice with someone you know walking towards you, maybe repetition would de-sensitize her to it a little?

I have a friend that walks up and down the street and that seems to working a little. Its when they walk up our path that she hates. She hates the garden.and its a shame because she loved playing out

Oh my god that's terrible, I understand now why she's so scared (I also hope you kicked him, what an idiot!)

Anyway, when I first brought Daisy home (she is a rescue) I used to stay out in the garden with her until she did something, once she started I would keep saying 'do your business' then once she had finished praise her and we'd go inside. Same thing on walks. I know that's pretty basic stuff but it worked for us, gradually the accidents inside got less and less.

I will give that a try. Its such a shame because now she thinks its wrong to even do it in the house, and she thinks shes going to get into trouble. I just ignore and clean up. But it has messed her up. Its horrible to see.
