Roxy first walk AHHHGGGGGG

Roxy was able to go out for the first time today, I took her for a 15 min walk, she had been practicing at home on the lead around the house and in the garden.

All went well until about half way when Roxy decided to latch on to my jeans and shake at them, she would not let go at all, so had latched on hard and was shaking my jeans vigorously. "NO" did not work she just continued to shake and growl, I doubt it was aggressive with her being so young but it was embarrassing all the same. I ended up prizing her from my jeans, and then she latched on again and shook at them, Again "NO" did nothing, so again I unlatched her and picked her up and ended up waking home carrying her.

I know I really shouldn't but ................

It will get better the more often you do it Xx

It was embarrassing, I am sure it made some peoples days as the drove past us and saw this cute puppy attached to my leg.

Is this normal behavior?

Oh Roxy you little tyke, I am sure it will improve. Just glad she never had your trousers down! now that would have been embarrassing

all a big game , but try and resist the picking up and carrying home , and sorry but   see we are all entitled to laugh as we do not fit into the "people in glass houses" scenario, all been there and bought the T shirt , and it looks like you might have to buy the jeans as well  (sorry  couldn't resist)

I was gonna wear shorts, she does this to me around the house as i have said in a previous thread, but only me.

Haha bless. Yes it's rather normal, the pups been used with you and hasn't realized the world is out there yet!

Awwww Jenson still does this on many occasions during his walk .. he just gets too excited and latches on and shakes we tell him no take him off and let him calm down before moving off

I just took her for another 15 min walk and was a little better this time, she only bit me once but spent most of the walk sitting down expecting everyone and everything to stop and say hello, she even laid down on her back in protest when someone walked past her without saying hello.

Aww unfortunately it will take time and training for her to get used to the lead! We didn't have this problem with Gwen she was great on the lead from the very first day..but she's been a nightmare to house train so each pup is different. It will just take time and a lot of patience from you! Try not to be embarrassed because she is just a baby and people will see this! Good luck it will improve just try not to get frustrated!

Take a squeaky toy to distract her or tasty sausage treats ! U can add some 'sit' training into the walks xx

She already sits great, every road she will sit when told. I will try a squeaky toy though (sewn to my jeans leg)

Everything takes practice, keep at it

Ah dear little Roxy - everything is new to her and a great game! Everyone (well, mostly everyone) loves baby puppies and will forgive them anything, so don't be embarrassed; she'll get accustomed to walking in the big wide world before you know it.

I just got back from Roxy's evening walk, and she was great she sat when told, and left my jeans alone, apart from eating the kitchen floor today it is a step forward.

Sorry but Very normal and excited behaviour and I would say that it was quite entertaining for passers by
