zinc oxide
Someone was on here recently with a question about a puppy having a small rash and was told to use sudocreme by a few members. As far as I can tell, sudocreme is mostly (only?) zinc oxide and I thought that zinc oxide was toxic to dogs? Is it only if ingested or is it not toxic to them at all and I've just imagined this?

Re: zinc oxide
Good point actually, Sudocrem does have Zinc Oxide in it and I've just seen a few random articles on the net stating that Zinc Oxide is toxic to dogs, both if ingested or put on the skin for a prolonged period of time.
Interested to know if anyone else can shed some more light on this...

Re: zinc oxide
It's alright as long as it isn't ingested. You do need to be careful with it.
Also, the same with all things you put on your dog, test it on a small patch of their skin before you use a lot.

Re: zinc oxide
Small amounts are safe, but you do need to make sure they don't try to lick it all off!

Tbh even if they did have a lick, you don't use enough to do any harm, unless you are spreading half the pot on

Re: zinc oxide
I've used sudocrem a few times on my girls paws - only when she's half asleep n settling down for the night - she gives me a half hearted look then goesbk to sleep.
