Re: When is a puppy considered an adult?
They've basically done all of their physical and mental development by two years old, so I guess then if you meant that way.

I always thought once they were 1 year they were adults. But they still develop long after that.

I'll plump for 2 years as every time Tommy is a little tinker (he's only 1 now) I tell my OH he's just a pup and she

Yeah me too, I'd say 2 years, is that because I can say she does things because she's a pup up until she 2? Hmmm probably

Depends on what you mean.
If you're showing, then a pup stops being a pup at 12 months old. If you're talking about physical developement then about 2-3 years old. If you're talking about mental developement then any time from about 18 months right up to 15 years!

Re: When is a puppy considered an adult?
I think the general age thats used is 12 months but its a catch all for all breeds and isnt a true reflection on any individual one.
smaller/toy breeds may reach maturity at 8 months or less while large breeds take alot longer. staffs keep growing and bulking past two years so if your taking human terms for maturity and adulthood it going to be about 2 1/2 to 3 years old.

At what age do you change from puppy food to adult age? I was thinking 12 months but not sure now.

Re: When is a puppy considered an adult?
He would be fine on adult food now, most puppy food is a bit of a swizz anyway. If you cannot decide which one to put him on the list below may help. If you are to be changing foods do so gradually over the course of about a week - 10 days to avoid any upset tummies:

For adult food, 12 months should be fine. It should say on the packaging of the food as well.

they get most of their height by about a year old - after that they widen & muscle up till they're about 2 1/2 - 3 years old.
