UTI??? Empty UTI???

Post by Kristen37 Thu May 02 2013, 09:46

I am a bit worried that Lacey has a uti. For a couple of days now she has seemed to be straining to wee and only a few drops come out when she seems to be straining. She has been drinking so much water, every time I put a bowl down she will drink until its gone. She has also had three accidents during her sleep (twice on me), which I think may be due to the amounts of water she has been drinking. She doesn't seem to be in pain but I am still a bit worried about her. She is booked in to the vet on Monday for her second vaccinations where I will definitely talk to them about it. Unless I should take her to emergency vet? Some advice would be great, thanks!

It is very possible you are right, common especially in a young pup. The vet should be able to help you deal with it very easily though Smile

You may want to bring forward the vets as it can't be comfortable for her Smile

It does sound like she has an uti or something going on.. I would give the vet a call and see if you can get her in a little earlier than Monday that is a bit too long to wait in my opinion, an infection like that although a common and easily treated could escalate into something more serious.. Perhaps you could call the vet and both vacs and a check up could be done sooner Big Grin

I can't get used to people saying that they can't get same day appointments with their vets - If I phone mine I can guarantee they'll make room for him during the day sometime, even if it's squeezed in between 2 others!

Let us know how you get on!

I would also get into the vet asap, ours are very good too, we can just turn up and get in to see a vet almost straight away, have never had to wait more than a few minutes.

Its a ball ache around here, i have mine registerd with three vets just in case. my fav is great but because of that they are always busy and are farm vets so sometimes out and about. the other two ive registerd with have all the details on hand should they need them for emergancies. even though first said they would prioritize i like the feeling of having alternative places to go should i need too

So the news is looking good for Lacey Smile the vet said that he is almost sure that it is an easy fixed uti, which will be fine after 5 days of anti biotics. We are sending him a urine sample tomorrow just to be sure. Thanks for your help everyone Smile
