getting another Staffy
I would love to get another staffy girl about the same age as Belle the one we already have (nearly 15weeks) can any one give me some pointers on this please?
Belle loves people and other dogs so i'm pretty sure she will love it.

Re: getting another Staffy
Might be better off getting a male we have one of each they get on really well. I think a female would get on though as they are both young

I was going to ask that too as whether its best to get another female or maybe a male?
We definitely aren't going to breed as they will be just pets so thats why i initially thought 2 girls would be ok?!
Thanks Karen x

Re: getting another Staffy
I've only ever had one dog at a time so cannot go on previous experience, some people would say leave a gap of about 18 months - 2 years between having another dog. This will give the current dog time to gain his own confidence and mature a little before having another dog there with him full time.

Just remember you will have twice as much poop to scoop, twice as much food to feed and will be constantly going 'BE QUIIIETTT' at the top of your lungs so you can hear eastenders over the constant 'ruffing' growling and various high pitched squeals they make when playing. You will have a hard job training two at once aswell cus the minute one starts to improve the other will pull her back and vice versa especially with house training.
I personally would wait at least a year til you get another but if you really can't wait then at least 6 months xx

going by tia and my friends blue staffy today, same age both females, they where growling and going for each other. first time they met, could just be a one off as she is fine with other females, and this is the first time she has ever been like this with another female.

I think I would probably go for opposite sexes and give it a bit longer if possible

Re: getting another Staffy
Im more of a fan on leaving it until you have one dog perfected. Its unbelievable how much a pup will learn from watching an older dog, and in my opnion if you have two the same age they will be more interested in eachother than you.
I would wait.

Thank you for your help and i agree with you, it makes much more sense to wait and have Belle more settled and trained she can then teach the new one a thing or 2 lol x

Re: getting another Staffy
I'd say at least wait until ur current staffy is over the teenage stage, is trained, listens to you etc, so prolly around 8-9mths.
This way the new pup would learn from your current one and will be less of a nightmare for u ! Rather than having 2 unruly pups together !
