recall training

hey all,
I've got a 10 meter recall training lead coming tomorrow, just wondering hows the best way to teach her this? i wanna try teach her ready for the summer to hit the beaches I've got a clicker and a big bag of treats ready for when she comes back will try her with the clicker but if anyone has any other useful tips or ways they found best to teach their pups, i will be very grateful never done this before so a little scared of jumping straight into it, dont want my baby to run away
also when she was a bit smaller she could fit through the fence to the pavement by the road, and i would call her to me when people walked past with dogs and she listened every time, i know being let of somewhere else she may suddenly get selective hearing but atleast i know she listens to me at home. (now her shoulders are to wide for her to fit throught the fence )

I try party voice with Cassie but i sound as if i should be answering the phone at the local morgue ( miserable git) lol, but i find if i bend down and say "come" clapping hands between OPEN legs but only when she looks at me at the word come ( see link below as a warning lol) and lots of fuss and treats, Cassie is getting there but she can be stubborn, i'm sure you will get loads of advice, don't forget picture and video's of training please

The long line and treats is what we used and don't worry if she is on lead she won't be able to get away

Call her to you, and if she doesn't come back on the first call, reel her in like a fish then when she gets to you give her lots of praise and a treat. Eventually she'll learn to come back. Loki's recall came naturally to him, he was always enthusiastic to come back...then he became a teenager and he completely forgot the concept of returning so that's how we re-taught him and his recall's great again.

Start off at home, just recall from a couple of feet to start with & gradually build up the distance. Same with outside, start off with short distances & gradually increase.

When you have the long training lead on don't hold on to the end - believe it or not your pup will know! Let it trail, but keep the end well withing grabbing distance.

Never shout at your pup while your doing recall training, even if he doesn't come back. And the second he starts to come towards you act really silly & happy to make him want to come to you!

It depends on where we are or what she's doing but my puppy will ignore me if she's too busy playing with her toy. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

But when I act silly, high-pitched voice and clap my hands - she does come. LOL

That's exactly what you need to do! You might feel an absolute p*at at times, but it'll work!

You just have to make yourself the most irresistible thing in the park, I'm sure you are anyway treats or a favourite toy would be great, or a squeaky toy perhaps.

basically what others have said we use them for recall with our dogs they work too

well i tried all that today and she didnt want to know, i even went all high pitched silly and clapping my hands (my son found it very funny) but nothing, clicker didnt work either, nor treats haha. i will keep at it though thanks for the advice guys.
