Spayed today :( Empty Spayed today :(

Moll is currently at the vets because she is getting spayed today.

I know its reccomended to wait until after a second season by some but I have made the decision to do it after one mainly due to her having rather bad demodex.

The demodex was triggered during her first season (stressful time) and I don't want it getting any worse. I know I may have a leggier pup but she's the love of my doggy life and I'd rather her fur be present and correct.

I know its a standard procedure but I have been at work worrying about her all day!! They are doing a skin biopsy whilst she is under as well.

I can phone at 1 to check up on her but even now that seems ages away!

She'll be fine! She'll be a bit mopey & shivery when she comes home, but by tomorrow morning you'll be tearing your hair out trying to keep her quiet!

I know that (in my opinion) she's a little young yet for spaying, but sometimes you have to look at the overall health of your dog & make the best decision you can. If the season triggers the demodex, then this is probably the kindest way to do it. >Big Grin<

It was a tough decision but I think the right one.

Given her reaction to the Aludex our vet has taken her off it. We are using Advocate and a skin ointment and yet another course of anti biotics! He said that they may use Ivermectin (spelling?) if the advocate isn't helping. Its unlicensed in dogs and I think that is probably because Collies are missing the gene or some such thing that deals with the chemical so they react very badly to it. But no bad reports in staff's (hardcore dogs hehe).

I'm going to give the camrosa people a call today now that she is off the sheep dip equivilent.

Just want my little girl back I go to pieces when I know shes not having a fun time! But I do also know that she will be fine and its a very routine procedure.... try as I might common sense doesn't win me over lol

Bless her, is she home yet? Honestly I am very proud of Moo's build and she was also done after her first season so please do not worry there!

She'll be a little sleepy and whiny for a bit but will bounce back tomorrow, and its you that will have the issue keeping her calm!

I hope you find an answer to the skin complaint also XxX Hugs and licks from us Smile

She has to be one of the most lovely dogs ever (no bias Wink ) we had a couple of friends over this evening and they said hi to Moll who wagged her tail sooo quickly and was so happy to have attention despite her busy day.

She's restless but happy and coping very well! So happy to have my baby girl back safe Smile

Whining rather alot! I let her out of her crate for a little while and she wags her tail like mad and licks me as much as she can but she then seems very restless and whines and walks back into her crate. I've shut her in their at the moment.

She's had pain medication but shes not a happy girl.

She hasn't really eaten anything since the op apart from a few treats so I'm making her scrambled eggs for lunch Smile

Its so hard to know whats for the best but the vet said keeping her in her crate for a large part of today was a good idea as it limits her movement.

Back to the vets tomorrow morning to have the stitches out of her skin biopsy so she can have a check p as well.

Arhh my poor little girl!

Bless her, I hope she is back to herself soon, when do you expect to get the results from the skin biopsy?

Don't worry about her not eating at the moment. The anaesthetic does funny things to them. Just tempt her with something tasty every so often & as long as she's drinking ok she'll get her appetite back soon.

Don't know when we get the biopsy results back.

To be honest I'm not really sure what they are testing if for, they said can they do it and i said yes if it will help at all! Then she came back with extra stitches!

Scrambled eggs time!

Would you walk her at all today or just leave it until tomorow? I'm thinking leaving it is prob most sensible.

I'd leave it, to be honest. If she isn't looking for it, then a day in will do her good.
