Well Bodhi is 13 weeks now and has been an excellent little pup, house training went wonderful and we have had no accidents in the house for 5 days now. He has also calmed down alot on the nipping too and is more into licks now then nibbling......BUT....... we do have an issue with him and my 2 year old in that he keeps attacking him he will grab the bottom of his trousers and if I'm not quick enough my little boy falls over then Bodhi is all over him biting ears, hair etc he has also nipped his face leaving marks. We try and keep them both calm and we do supervise play between them and they are never left alone together just the pup has quicker reactions than me and a situation occurs in the blink of an eye. This is getting me really stressed and was wondering if any of you nice people have any advice on how to go about dealing with it. ~angry

It is probably the fast movement of the feet. When I first got Blue he was always going for the kids feet, not nasty just trying to play. The quick movements caught his prey drive instint.
I put Blue on leash while the kids played as normal then corrected him when he went to go for the feet to show him that it was unacceptable behaviour. Everytime he went to go for the feet I made him sit then rewarded him with a treat. He got the message quicker that I thought he would of.

My pup goes for feet aswell so you're not alone there .. i no its obviously more worrying when its a toddler than an older person .. like said above i think its the fast feet movement etc try preoccupying the pup when your toddler is walking around and everytime he goes for the feet you distract him maybe? but ive not had this problem as any children that come to my house are over 5

We have the same problem with Milly when my nephew comes she gets so excited, I try to get all her toys out and distract her. If she gets a bit to giddy and will not calm down after being warned twice i put her in her cage for 5 mins and that seems to do the trick.

Erm,could try sitting with your son between your legs When your pup is in this mood and everytime he comes near stop him with a firm no or "ah" and just keep doing I untill pup gets the message that your son is to young to play with!
They are quick to learn so you will get there!

I know your son is only 2 but could you not teach him to say a loud "NO" when Bodhi does this to him? Bodhi will then realise that just because your son is little does not mean to say he can effectively bully him...
Bodhi is very young and should learn very quickly to take notice of him.
You're doing a great job so far, good luck with them both Smile

i too have this issue but with my sons face.. he really gets down in her face tho and i think she reacts to him before Brandan can move.. I have tried to teach him to put his hands firmly under her chest and give her a solid pat,.. none of this waving his hands around.. and so far it has been working.. BUT he is 7... very hard for such a young chikd to learn how to handle a buddle of puppy... i think your better off teaching the puppy to stop, that way he will learn the same behaviour is not toteralted no matter who it is.
hope u sort it out x

Thanks for replies, we are going to work on a couple of things the main one being sorting out my husband who always " puts Bodhi first" so to speak, I've told him to ignore the dog when coming in and pay his son the attention first, we are getting Corey to say no and he is now also in charge of Bodhi's tea, Bodhi is also being put in time outs and we are concentrating on 'sit' and 'down' with treat rewards to see if this also helps. OH the joys.
My husband started this last night and we actually had an easier morning so fingers crossed we can nip it in the bud!!

Glad to hear things are improving Louise!
I couldn't comment on this as Molly is a angel around children, then again she doesn't come across them that often.
