Hello Gem, as I am sure you are aware , staffs make great family dogs but you must always , as with all dogs, supervise contact and play, reember the kids may well be far less better behaved than the dog. My wife was a childminder with our 2 dogs until she gave up the business recently Big Grin

Meanwhile please pop here and say hello

I'm sure they would all get along quite happily. One name for the Staffy is the Nanny Dog after all and for good reason.

Please take a minute to read the link below, some very useful information there too:

I am very lucky that generally my 3 kids behave very well. One is old enough to know that it's important to know to stay calm around a pup and the othert 2 will very quickly learn. I'm guessing that if i make instructions very clear to the pup and lots of love and bounderies we shouldnt have too much of a manic time? Ihave been brought up around dogs, more with cats but i have never owned a dog myself before and definately not a Staffi. Am i doing the right thing or ami taking on too much? confused Hi kathy, Mazz and Miley! I have always had a love for Staffis, and the pup i would have has been rescuedfrom a neglective owner, including the other pups and mum. They are currently with the owner of the dad of the pups, and both doggie parents are very placid, hoping this is a good start

We got our first staff aged 9 weeks and he is now 5 months. Although he is rarely around kids, when he does meet them he just adores them. He will ignore an adult or even another dog to go to kiddies but, being a puppy and weighing in at 14 kilos, he is boisterous and could easily scare children who are unsure of dogs.
Your puppy will love your kids so don't worry.

Hi Reuben, thanks for the advice, staffi puppies are so excitable and so adorable. My kids will love Buddy, and i am less wary of taking Buddy on thanks to you and others replying to my post. Is there anything i still should watch out for though as like us everyone does have a 'bad day' from time to time x

Staffs, and puppies in general, are rather excitable, but they do love kids. Just make sure to supervise them at all times and they'll be fine Big Grin

I will make sure the kids and pup are supervised. even if staffi doesnt mean to it will have the strength to hurt the kids and this is my biggest concern. the staffis i have seen have been lovely so far, so i guess its down to the owners and their way of upbringing the staffis. i hope i can be a good owner. i know how to look after one,its just putting it to the test really

aaawww sounds like a lovely companionship they have Smile well providing the pups stay where they are as they were rescued last minute then i am allowed Buddy. I just wanted to make sure i am doing the right thing as 3 excitable kids might be too much for the pup. Yes i will definately put some pics up when Buddy is home with us. It is really nice to speak to other staffi owners, shows im not on my own on this one x

Believe me the kids won't be too much for him. When he's had enough, if allowed, he will just go to his bed and pass out.
Enjoy.
