Re: Now just missing the puppy!
looking like some little girl going to be spoilt
if you have an old duvet or blanket drape it over the top off the top and sides of the crate it will help her settle and keep her warm

Excellent idea
I've got a divider to make the crate smaller to begin with (more 'snug').
And i'm going to ask to bring home somthing that smells like her brothers/mum hoping that will help her too.

Re: Now just missing the puppy!
Any other advice regarding what I can do to help her to settle painlessly would be very welcomed

Re: Now just missing the puppy!
Loki settled in very quickly. He just walked around the whole rooms sniffing, and he was very clingy to begin with; always walking next to me, sitting when I stopped, etc. Ah, those days were gone so quickly and then the demon showed up . Anyway, I think they settle in quickly, just let her have a good explore (watch her like a hawk ) and let her take her time. Also, once she's settled in...PICTURES

I hid some high value treats eg. small pieces of cooked chicken in his bed and let him find them himself. After that he was always keen to go to bed on command ( and still is ) just to see what surprises were in store. I always reward him when he goes to bed on command.
P.S.
bed in our house isn't just his crate, he has a bed in the kitchen and a bed in the lounge......spoilt brat

Re: Now just missing the puppy!
A blanket or an item with her littermates scent will be helpfull as well as a TV or radio left turned on at a low volume

Re: Now just missing the puppy!
lol, im totally in this stage, all setup, toys ready, food bowls in place. according to my S3, pickup is 4 days 6 hours and 3 minutes lol.
Re: Now just missing the puppy!
I remember how you are feeling right now only to well.........
If you're hoping to leave your new puppy in her crate at night, wrap up a ticking type clock and a warm water bottle in a towel/blanket and put it in with her bed. It gives them the comfort and feeling that they're not alone in there, the warmth and clock ticking simulating another puppy's body heat and heart beat
Luna looks very much like Ella did as a puppy too

Not that you're counting
One little tip.......get lots of sleep now to make up for the " 3am dragging yourself out of bed" few weeks for toileting.

Re: Now just missing the puppy!
do it!! sleep while you can! Max is up all hours of the night, and it's been hot as hell here so he's been drinking loads of water. and there is nothing worse than the sprint for the door when you're sure he's gonna wee on the floor.

Re: Now just missing the puppy!
I was spoiled. Bart didn't wake up in the middle of the night nor did he have any accidents. He came home pretty much house trained as he would sit by the door or scratch on the screen door when he needed to go out.
Less than 10 minutes after he got home he seemed to feel at home. He liked to snuggle near me to sleep for the first week or so. Enjoy that excitement!!

Re: Now just missing the puppy!
as said, they grow up extremely quick, cass has flown up, i remember the day i could carry him one handed. not anymore!!
I just say be patient. especially surrounding the toilet training. im sure there'll be a few accidents on the way, but they learn in time.
enjoy the puppy stage!! they soon become cocky brave little teenagers in know time.

Loki slept right the way through the night from the third or so day *insert smug face here*...but now he's made up for it by being extra-clingy
Just have to be patient (impossible, I know) and enjoy the puppy cuteness...and allow us to enjoy it with you by taking tons of pics (this is aimed at everyone who's got/getting their new puppy).
