Have known they dont regulate heat as well as older dogs but the difference is quite stark once you have an older dog next a pup.
Last year marley as a pup hated it when i had the heating on and would always sit on the stairs which is cooles part of the house. I had put it down to his parentage and his love of the cold.
Now i have laska is become very apparent of the ability to tolorate heat between them. They both love the cold and go nuts when its frosty but over the past few days trying to get either washing or walking gear dry ive had the heating on more than usual. Marley is a polar difference from last year and laying on his back next to the radiator (they have no shame) while laska is in his old spot on the stairs panting away.
Im realy quite amazed at the differance in tollorance level between the two of them even though i knew extra caution was needed with pups during the summer i never realised the differance was so great.
Anyone else noticed anything similar? Will certainly influance any advice about heat and pups next summer for sure.

I live in Australia where it is hot most of the year. Queensland /Brisbane is a reasonably tropical environment. Summer days range from 30- 38 degrees so my vet had warned me about the heat and how this can effect my pup especially heat stroke.

I lived in London for two and half years and understand the climate being far colder than home. Pups can't regulate their temps as well as bigger dogs and this can be tricky in either hot or cold temps.

I know my Honey struggles on hot days and I often wet her down mid day and give her ice blocks to help her survive the heat! I guess in your case a hot water bottle or a coat could help Smile

Nothing Bacchus loved more than lying on the carpeted upstairs landing ( the rest of the house is wood and laminate ) cuddling the radiator. But strangely when out he doesn't seem to mind the cold.
