Re: training my staffy
we taught ruby to speak by holding a treat just out of reach and asking her to speak, the more excited she got the louder she yapped until she barked and we dropped the treat while saying speak the instant she barked. she picked it up in no time.
what other things are you going to try and teach him?
ruby now knows-
sit,
lay down,
stay,
roll over,
speak,
paw,
other paw(gives one paw then the other),
turn around (spin in circle),
turn back (she goes in figure of ,
dya smell (she lays down with her nose under her paw),
beg,
wave,
leave it,
hide (runs round back of your legs and pokes her head from between your knees),
on your mark (she goes to stand on a piece of paper we point at),
take a bow
im in the process of teaching her to look left and look right which shes getting the hang of now i love teaching her new things, so much fun.

Re: training my staffy
I'm sure with time and patience you will there, try the SPEAK command to get her to bark on command, but then remember you must know how to get her to stop too

oh yes, the power of the 'shh' command when ruby started she decided all she wanted to do was woof at us for everything.

Re: training my staffy
i bet the floors not carpeted in the kitchen, tash refuses if the floor is too cold, they have no fur on the bellies. In training they had to get tash a carpet square to put under her so she would do the training. Staffies are such woosies

Yep....if I ask Percy to lie down outside ( especially if it's cold/wet) he will eventually lower his body down so his belly is just touching the floor with a look like I'm such an evil mummy to expect him to do such a terrible thing
