Re: staffy pup is going mad
It sounds alot like excess energy which the walks will help with. For the toilet take her out after sleeping, eating or playing and keep her outside until she goes. If she has an accident in the house be sure to remove the scent.

I have the same prob at the moment with my 12 week old I'm hoping walkies will help solve the problem, unfortunately here we can't go out until after 3rd shots so we are still housebound for 4 weeks
Hope she settles after she can get daily exercise, please let me know if she improves and give me some hope

Re: staffy pup is going mad
The secret is to tire them out , our Duke is 9 weeks old and he sleeps as much as he is awake, i sit on the floor with him and his toys playing tug of war for up to ten mins a time as soon as he is finished i take him into the garden for wee and poo , i admit im shattered as well but it is worth it . he is dry at night now, he sleeps straight through the night from 11pm to 8am , as soon as i come down it's into the garden he has a long wee then 5 mins later a poo , feed time then i play with him for ten mins or longer then back into the garden by ten he is flat out again .
Just to add i always reward him with a treat when he wee's or poo's in the garden with lots of praise .

Great advise above! Can't add anything to that but it will get easier when you can go out properly Xx

Sounds like a lot of pent up energy and once you start to exercise regularly this should dissipate. A good toilet routine will also help, going out after play, after waking etc.

Re: staffy pup is going mad
I do wish that vets wouldn't tell owners to keep their pups in until their second jab, this is a very important stage of a pups life were they should be getting socialised instead of being kept away from everything. It is ok to take a pup out as long as the pup is not put on the ground, I used to put a pup in a bag and carry it over my shoulder, I still have the bag
Never put your pup outside to toilet, you won't know if she has gone or not, take her outside as soon as she wakes up, before and after she is fed, after she has been playing or a training session and at 12 weeks old she needs to be taken out every 30 to 45 minutes because her body isn't mature enough to go longer. We put nappies on our babies until they are mature enough to be toilet trained. Don't forget the double wee, once she has gone outside keep her out for another 5 minutes to give her a chance for the second wee.
Short training sessions are very good for tiring a puppy out, keep them to 5 minute sessions several times a day, also play mind games with her, the 3 cup game is usually very popular.
Don't expect her to walk as soon as she is able to go out, she needs to be taught to walk on a lead, so many owners look forward to taking their puppy out and get exited at being able to but when it comes the pup won't walk. There are many reasons for this, that is a big, scary world out there and your pup is small, get down to her level and get people to keep walking past you, it will give you an idea of how the world looks to her.
Your puppy needs to be taught how to walk on a loose lead as well, far to many Staffies get neck damage because they have never been taught to walk on a loose lead, especially if they are walked on a collar and pull.
At 12 weeks old she should get 5 minutes walk for every month of her life, that is no longer than 20 minutes walk.
Don't be frightened to pick her up if she gets frightened, she can see more if you pick her up but don't carry her around unnecessarily, she does have 4 legs to your 2.
Good luck with your puppy.

Re: staffy pup is going mad
I agree with Cyril...we were told Callie could be out, but not in places where she might encounter other dogs, or more importantly, other poo, until second shots. Our vet said it was mostly parvovirus, which they can pick up on their paws. Maybe your yard or a friend's yard where no other dogs?

Don't forget, though, that you can also add some off lead play to that, as long as your pup is allowed to stop & rest whenever she needs to!

Re: staffy pup is going mad
Hi there it sound like your puppy is just very hyperactive our pup is nearly a year old and shes yet the same as what she was at 10 weeks lol its must be in the breed . We found tho when she was able to go for walks talking her out every 3 hours worked for her and it burned off all her energy as we would go running with her same as i do with my other girlie and now shes more at peace but some mornings shell be nutty and just jump over the sofas and like the face of us your pup is gorgeous and im sure once she gets out for long walks she will calm down
