A carrot too far?
Hi Guys, my dogs love apple and carrots, thanks to your comments on treats but how much, but just wondered if I could give them a whole apple or carrot each would this be too much vegetable in one day. They really love the things, I would core the apple first of course. This would not be an every day thing but would vary their treats.

Re: A carrot too far?
I give Rocky a small amount of carrot every 3 days or so. I cut a piece about the size of my thumb, chop it up and add this to his dinner, as for apple he has a bite of one every other day approx.

Not a whole apple as it is, no, the pips are poisonous

I would core the apple as I don't like pips but did not realise that they were poisonous. Thanks

Re: A carrot too far?
Percy shares this carrot addiction too....if I'm cooking them I will add some to his meal, and as he's teething at the mo he also chews on whole carrots and probs eats about half of it whilst chewing. They are very low calorie and low fat so I wouldn't imagine there's any negative effect from them......apart from orange poo maybe

Re: A carrot too far?
Carrots can be given as much as you like. Dempsey won't eat cooked ones, but loves them raw. Trouble is, he leaves tiny bits of orange all over the floor!
Apples I'd restrict a little because they're more acidic & could give them a bit of an off tummy, but half an apple every so often's no problem (minus the core as the pips contain arsenic!).
