confusedpuppy.com ???
we have had our puppy four days now and all's going great, except maybe our choice of
name.
NOAH , you see when he bites (which is all the time) i tell him off with a stern NO!!
he shuffles backwards growls and stomps off!!
but when i talk to him or call him NOAH he does the same, shuffles backwards yaps or growls
and goes off in a sulk.
have you got my drift? NO---- NOAH ?
is he confusing his name for a rebuke?
help!!

Re: confusedpuppy.com ???
Should be fine tbh. It's all in the tone I think.
When u tell him off it's more a stern 'no!' rather than a light hearted 'noah'.
Pups take a cpl of weeks to find their feet and understand boundaries, make sure u and everyone in your household are consistent and u should be fine x
Good luck with ur furbaby xx

Re: confusedpuppy.com ???
instead of using the word no when you want him to stop doing something, try using ' AH- AH'. I found it worked really well and more effective than no. Good luck

Does sound like an accent problem and I would have the same issue had I decided to call my dog Noah , but I could change my rebuke to "divvent" or "nee" or "for f***s sake will you not do that"
As you've only had him 4 days is it too late to change his name again

Re: confusedpuppy.com ???
i see now a short ah-ah as in telling a child not to touch.
not ah-ah i have an idea.
my wife says that and he does'nt growl at her.
i like it.

Re: confusedpuppy.com ???
By all means, change his name if you think it's confusing him. But as others have said, I've found that "ah ah!" works better for me than "no," so you can easily change the word rather than his name.
