Loki Learnt Three New Tricks Yesterday :)
I forgot to make the topic yesterday so I'll do it now.
Loki's learnt lie down properly now (I can point to the floor as opposed to putting the treat right onto the floor), so I decided to work on "crawl," which I've wanted to teach him ever since I saw a video of a Pitbull puppy doing it so I tried that yesterday and he did it easily. Still have to carry on and get him used to it of course, but he's getting there. And last but my favourite, I'm teaching him to identify certain things by name, starting with "stick." He has this red fake stick toy, so I'd say "get the stick," and as soon as he went near it, I'd praise him and reward him. After a while I put the stick next to some random objects and would keep saying it and, again, whenever he showed interest in it, I'd reward him. Finally, I put the stick next to some different toys and do the same thing again. By this point (in the space of a few hours), he'd realised what I'm asking him to do, so now he'd actually point to the stick with his nose. I tried swapping the toys around and found that he was going for the toy where the stick was previously so obviously he hasn't gotten there yet, but he definitely understands the concept. We'll be trying to break the record of the dog that can identify 2000 or so words
It's funny, in the space of two months, Loki has learnt more than my old dog, Zac, did in his nine years of life. Poor Zac, he was a bit simple but still, it's amazing how quickly dogs learn things.

Go Loki! Its amazing actually they can build up quite a vocabulary. Our older Staffy knows loads of words, People's names and objects. She probably knows about 40 words.

They certainly are capable of learning, definately. I can remember seeing a program once where a dog learned about 50 or so different names of toys. The trainer asked for a certain toy from the box and the dog went and got the right out every time, amazing.

Yeah, and the record for a dog that knows the most words is like 2000, so that's also amazing. They really are very intelligent animals
