Nocturnal!!!!
Hey guys! Hope your all ok and your pooches are managing to keep cool during this heat! Just a quick simply inquiry today! Patch has started waking up around 3/4 in the morning...... not for the toilet, not for food but just to play!!! I know its a big part of puppy growing up but I need my beauty sleep! lol What can I do to turn this around, if anything at all????

Re: Nocturnal!!!!
Tash does this, first few times i did stay down with her but now i make sure she goes to the toilet outside, sit and stroke her for a couple of minutes, put her back in her crate and leave her to cry, it doesnt last long and she now only wakes up if my 4 year old son wakes up and she hears him.

Moo has slept on my bed from day 1, she used to wake but not anymore
She is just a dead weight now that manages to nick over half the bed, there is a reason I am single

Oh no! Well patch isnt on the bed yet for 2 reasons 1) At 7 weeks old he still has major bladder control issues! 2) the oh wont allow it as i already nick the quilt and most of the bed!!!!

Re: Nocturnal!!!!
I give Patch 4 weeks and he'll be the bed hog
Honestly you have to ignore the wimpers, as hard as it is! Either crate or have a baby gate

Re: Nocturnal!!!!
Agree with Janey just ignore it. If you go to him it will only reenforce the behaviour

Re: Nocturnal!!!!
I made the mistake of half ignoring the advice , with Tilly we diodnt have any problems but Tommy was really vocal so I had to lie down with him and settle him and it just went on too long (about 1 1/2 weeks we were constantly getting up for him , lying with him , at 1 point he came in our room and the OH went in the back room (his cage is with my daughter in the back room) just so she could get some sleep. Then we said enough is enough , take some advice that you read every single day and leave him . I would wake him 2 times a night initially so he didn't wake us , put him out to toilet and then straight back to bed , little stroke and goodnight and job done. The more you do the more he will expect Presently he will onl;y cry if he needs to go , most of the time he sleeps right through
