To hot for pup!
So its like 30 degrees out today, and I don't think my patch is dealing with it very well!! He is restless and unsettled since about 4 this morning! He has found a good spot on the concrete step by the back door! Its pulling on my heart strings seeing him so uncomfortable, as he is normally relaxed and very playful!! I've been wetting my hand and rubbing them over him, he seems to like that!! Is there anything else i can do that can cool him down??
Many thanks
Many thanks

We have the AC going and a fan as well. They are good at finding the coolest spots. We also make sure to plan her walks in the early morning and after the sun has gone down.

You could give him some ice cubes to chew on that will keep him nice and cool and hydrated.
Obi wasn't to bad yesterday but today he's very lethargic so i'll be keeping him indoors where it's cooler and give him ice cubes and his frozen kong.

Re: To hot for pup!
If you have a fan either place it at his level or point it down at him.
Mine have a large floor fan that they love and all lie in-front of
Failing that as the fan scares him, place a soaking wet towel out side on the floor and see if he will lie on that.
This heat the doggies dont like all we can do is try our best to make it bare-able for them, by either doing what i suggested or hosing them down in a hose pipe game.
Ice cubes i personally dont advise, as the coldness of the ice on hot internal organs could cause the stomach to go into a spasm and cramp and could cause bloat like symptoms.

Re: To hot for pup!
Best places to wet him down are Legs, armpits and tummy. the venous return system runs from the chest, armpits and down and backup the inside of each foreleg. wetting those areas will give the best benifits as its where the blood flow is closest to the skin.

Re: To hot for pup!
We haven't taken Rocky out today yet, normally we would be out with him at about 9am but just too hot this morning. I think we will leave it until later on this evening when hopefully it has cooled down a bit.
We have a fan in the lounge which he did bark at to begin with it but he is used to it now.

Re: To hot for pup!
My lexi enjoys the sun but if she gets too hot she goes into the shade of a big tree or into the shed, 18" thick walls make it nice and cool inside lol

My 2 love ice, I give them a cpl each and put the rest in their water bowl, they fish them out and gets them drinking.
Other than that my 2 tend to hog the fan !
No walks since Thursday night as it's just too too hot, Both of them get sick if they overheat.
