what can i add to dry food ?
Hi, i started feeding Alfie dried food from the off, then i started to add a little Nature Diet to moisten it up a bit as it seemed that just dry was too dry (if you know what i mean). Now Alfie seems to have gone off the Nature Diet, i now have a dilema to switch to another wet food to add or is there some other human food i can add just to moisten the dry food, i'm aware that things like egg, fish, mash, yoghurt will be fine but just to keep him interested are there any others that you could suggest.

You could try adding raw egg (only a couple of times a week though) or some tuna - most dogs love those

I just add a little cooked, cooled chicken to Rocky dinner and he loves it. You could try saving the juices from the cooked meat (add a little water to the pan when you roast it) removed the fat when it is set, it's easier that way, then add a little of the set jelly to the dinner too. This is just chicken stock then in effect without any of the additives.

Re: what can i add to dry food ?
I used to get 'doggie gravy' for Zeus when I used to have problems with him not eating, it was a winner everytime, as soon as i poured it on his food he ate the whole thing. I got it from Pets At Home.
As the previous posts have stated, I also put a raw egg now and again on his food, or tuna/sardines (in oil, not brine or sauce) and have also put in chicken whenever I cook it for myself.

Re: what can i add to dry food ?
I'm not quite sure why people feel the need to moisten dry food TBH, especially if the dog was eating it fine.
If you literally just want to moisten it then perhaps just add a little water?
ETA: If you keep adding something new each time he turns his nose up at what he was getting, you're in danger of creating a fussy dog! Does he eat the dry OK? (What dry is it BTW?)

I've been adding a little sardines or tuna in oil to Duke's meals and he loves it.. Not to mention it's helped a lot with the dry skin he's had the past week.

I started adding wet food to his dry because he wasn't clearing his bowl and drinking water like it was going out of fashion. The dry he is having is Arden Grange Puppy/Junior

Re: what can i add to dry food ?
Why not add a little something to the dogs food?
I give Molly JWB, she gets the full recommended daily amount, and I mix in a bit of Naturediet. She clears the bowl first time!!
If it works for you then go for it.
If I was you I would stick to what you are giving. If he turns his nose up then lift the bowl and nothing until next feeding time. Next time give him a smaller amount and see what he does. Dont let him be fussy.
Hope this helps!!

Re: what can i add to dry food ?
We give wee bits of chicken, sardines or mackerel, scrambled egg and raw egg added to the dry food. Not all the time (!) but just as a wee treat now and again.

Re: what can i add to dry food ?
I have found that Alfie likes Arden Grange Partner wet food added, only problem is after buying 6 tins i have noticed it is for dogs 9 months plus, Alfie is 4 months, would this be a problem, he is having about two thirds AG Puppy/Junior dry with it.

Re: what can i add to dry food ?
There is no age too young to feed a RAW egg as far as I'm aware, but feeding all raw food is better than feeding half raw food half dry food as they are digested differently

Re: what can i add to dry food ?
Mine was the same with going off the same thing, I tried him on egg he liked it a couple of times then went off that, Same with tuna. Now i got him wainrights trays from pets@home and he's loved it ever since mixed with James Wellbelloved. Nothing worse than a fussy staffy, I ended up spending a fortune on him with all different. Finally found the right 1 now though. Hopefully
