Puppy tripped and hurt his leg? :(
Sorry another question!
My puppy was playing and running about, and being his usual clumsy self, tripped and hurt his front left leg. He's straightening and bending it out himself although resists it slightly, and he's led on it. He stands and puts a little weight on it. Although, if he walks, he limps and falls straight over. I gently felt it to see if there was any heat, but none. He won't stop crying when he tries and walks though. Although he has no problem with me touching it. Gutted
I have the vets number at the ready but I was advised to leave him and see how it is in the morning, but don't know what's best. He's fast asleep led on it, but I don't it to be something and leave it until tomorrow..
What should I do? I just worry over every little thing

Re: Puppy tripped and hurt his leg? :(
Give it 24hours to see if it is just a sprain. Puppies don't have enough weight behind them to do themselves any seriosu damage, but if its bent wrong it coudl still sprain/tear a ligament. If he is still very bad on it (and i mean can't put it down, yelps at touching it and doesnt want to move) give the vet a call.

Agree with Hayley. Also, make sure to keep him from jumping or running around too much for a few days so he doesn't hurt it again or make it worse

Thanks both, I just put him down on plenty of bedding, and he's fast asleep, he can't do anything with it, even crawling he refuses to use it. He doesn't yelp when touched, just when he has any weight on it.
Will see how it is in the morning, hoping he'll be fine and nothing too serious

When you are touching it is it straight or bent? have you been moving the paw up and down to see if he reacts differently?

He's mostly keeping it straight, but bends it now and again. I've moved it up and down gently, and compared to his other leg. His 'good' leg is resisting me move it, whereas his bad one there's no resistance, just sort of limp.. floppy like? That's all I can find to describe. He doesn't yelp when touching it, no sign of heat or swelling, just doesn't seem to have any resistance with it.. seems really 'weak'..
When I touch his 'good' one, he pulls away, whereas the one he hurt he won't pull away, has tried to bite me once..

Him trying to bite you is his way of saying it hurts leave it alone.
Personally i would take him to the vets first thing in the morning, a sprained muscle shouldn't make a puppy cry in pain.
Even thou a pups bones are soft, they can still break or fracture them.
They have growth plates in their front legs and a break here is a big concern.

It was only once he tried, which is what concerned me.
I will do, I'll get my boyfriend to come with, I'll try and get him to drink now and see how he goes, he sleeps in my room anyhow so will watch him carefully tonight.
Hoping nothing too serious, but wouldrather pay and know he's okay. Thank you!

Nothing serious thankfully! He's started putting all his weight back on it, think it was just the way he landed. So thankful he's okay. Back to his usual playful self, although will be keeping an eye on him from now on.
