over friendly :)
hi my 6 moth old bitch lipsy is been a bit of a sod the last few weeks when shes been walked...when shes on her lead and anyone walks by she wants to jump up them, greet them, and jus generally wants to play...which is fine when we know them just not when its every single person! my kids love me taking her to school to pick them up but its such a handful as she wants to jump up everyone and lick the children to death nightmare holding onto her and the pushchair ! weve had a few bad remarks "need to control your dog" " that dog shouldnt be allowed out" etc etc...shes worse when its children i dont no if its because she lives with children and knows how much fun she has playing with them so wants it even more lol. she doesnt jump up anyone when shes off her lead, which is usually after leaving the field to come home. she walks beside me and isnt interested in anyone that passes, she will sit and wait at the road even if there are people on the other side. when shes on her lead and there are people across the road she will wiggle her bum and get all excited at the prospect of seeing them! any tips on how to get her out of this? its embarrassing when its muddy outside and shes managed to jump up somebody leaving her paw prints behind (luckily the person didnt mind and wanted to play with her!) any advice is appreciated

Re: over friendly :)
lemmy is just the same. we have to tell everyone we know that if he jumps up at them to gently push him away and tell him OFF. i know it seems mean because we do want our dogs to be friendly and sociable but there is sociable and a down right nuisance which this behaviour does become in the end beleive because lemmy is 1 year old and we are still having him trying to jump lick and say hello to everyone. he has started to get the message the last couple of weeks so stick with it it will get better

Tilly's the same too , but off lead as well. Generally speaking unless its someone I know that doesn't mind and always plays with her I won't run the risk and it's back on her lead as the dirty paws never go down well.

Vinnie used 2b the same but the Leave command works so well and he dont even bat an eyelid on walks now, if i see him look at the person walking past i just say leave to be sure he wont jump and he carries on past them really well.
Skye however is still learning! lol shes getting better but will have her moments of selective hearing where the Leave is ignored! lol lil madam but we are getting there

Re: over friendly :)
The leave command works most of the time with Tyson. I do find that once he has got excited, pulling on his leash just seems to heighten the mood. I try and snap him out of it by either turning quickly and walking in the opposite direction for a little ways then turning back to face the source of the excitement or making him sit and face me. I ask people to ignore him and only pet him if he is calm.

If she gets over excited have her sit and wait or take her in the opposite direction. We still deal with this issue as well. Suki seems to think everyone is her playmate

Hi,
Stella is the same but she is slightly better on lead and a complete nightmare off lead so in general she has to be on her lead when we are in public areas.
The turning and walking in the opposite direction is good, sometimes helps to have a toy such as a plastic bottle which keeps her focused, or kicking a stick or something - I try to make myself more interesting than the other people around I try to have her sit and wait until she is calm and I try to explain to people the same when they want to pet her, I guess it takes time and patience
Good Luck, you are not alone with this one
