Eyes and face pretty red
Marleys eyes flare up and get really red from time to time. This is accompanied by a red face which is somewhat visible under his white fur. My thought is allergies but I dont know what it would be. He isn't giving me any signs that anything is bothering me I just want to alleviate any irritation for him that I can bc he's pretty thick headed!
any information would be greatly appreciated
Thanks,
Josh

Re: Eyes and face pretty red
Funnily enough I see this in my Monty too. Although when his eyes are red, it's usually near the time he's tired, but I can't be sure..

If it was just his face I'd say he's hot. But if his eyes are red, then it'll be an allergy I would think. A piriton tablet will probably help if that's the case.
Have you no clue as to when it happens? Have you changed food, fed him something in particular, or taken him somewhere different? What about washing powder, is it after you've washed his bedding?

you know I didnt even think about it but we did just wash his bedding. Although I believe I notice it other times when the bedding hasnt been washed as well. We jusr added a 6 month of lab puppy mix and they play like hell so I was beginning to attribute to every time he plays hard, but we have only had the lab for 2 weeks and I have noticed this before.
dunno what to do. Again he gives me no indication that it bothers him but he doesnt ever really whine or yelp at anything.

Re: Eyes and face pretty red
When it happens again, try to think carefully about everything he's experienced within the previous 48 hours; food, excercise (where & what sort), bedding washed, floor washed, carpets cleaned - anything that he's come into contact with.
Try to eliminate one of these things & see if it happens again. It might take a couple of months or so, but hopefully you'll get to the bottom of it.

also in wehat situations are they worse. if he is stressed or a little hyper it could also be a sign of a high adrenalin level. oily fish such as half a tin of sardines in oil a day helps this. but i agree it is more than likely an allergy if it all the time. Lemmy though does have one eye with a constantly red third eyelid so it could be nothing

Re: Eyes and face pretty red
Mouse gets red eyes if shes tired and she gets a red face (you can see under the white bits and its only the white bits that do that) when shes been running around and playing and has got hot.
