poorly puppy :(
First topic message reminder :
Hi all
My little Zac slipped over on the decking yesterday whilst playing and is now limping. He went to the emergency vet yesterday and had pain relief but was still limping this morning. He is currently at the vets having an x ray to see if its sprained/fractured. Im hoping its nothing too serious, can't believe it happened bless him. Has anyone else had this happen, and if he does need it plastered or strapped will it impair him too much? I know staffs are tough little things so hopefully he will take it all in his stride ... It's me who is the big baby!
Thanks Irene x

Re: poorly puppy :(
Hi All
Update:
The vet has decided to leave it dressing free until Thursday and to see how it does healing on its own. She wants to see me Thursday and make sure the leg/foot isnt turning out and stays straight, if it doesnt then the splint will have to go back on
To be honest he is coping better with it off. He was a bit cautious this morning but I think he can judge better how much pressure to put on his leg than he could with the bandage. I still take him outside for toilet on the lead and will continue to do so.
Im hoping he will be tons better by Thursday ... paws crossed xx

Re: poorly puppy :(
Thought Id give an update. Zac is now walking fine no limping for 4 days. The vet said last Thursday we had to give him another week of rest, out on lead and no walking. Ive let Zac take it at his own pace and he has been playing and running up and down the lounge LOL. We are back to the vets tomorrow night and Im sure she will say to walk him now .. gently of course.
I was carrying him upstairs so he didnt strain his leg but he got past me and ran up them himself the other day, so I guess he is ok with stairs now ha ha!
A big THANK YOU to all of you for the support you gave me when Zac got injured, it was a big help.
My avatar picture is Zac at 13 weeks old xx

Re: poorly puppy :(
Thanks Vanessa will do! Yes he is running and doing all the stuff the vet told me not to let him do I have kept him on the lead, but I dont know how they expect you to keep a puppy still when he is indoors LOL

Re: poorly puppy :(
Thanks for giving him a cuddle for me Irene .. I would love to be doing it in person!!
I would say it is virtually impossible to keep a pup of that age still ! Little Zac certainly wouldn't have understood why he is being kept on a lead and I bet you will breathe a sigh of relief though when he gets the all clear!

Re: poorly puppy :(
Well we went to the vets and she said we can finally walk him!! Only allowed two 10 min walks a day, but its better than no walks at all LOL. She is very happy with his progress and said we have to go back next week and if all ok we are discharged whoop whoop!
We finish the anti inflammatorys in 3 days and then we will see how he goes without them ... hopefully ok.
