Concerns Empty Concerns

Post by Radiantpaper Thu Oct 20 2011, 15:50

We have had Bella a while now 3 or so months and we have a Jack Russell x. They get on when out as in walks they run around and have fun. However recently when home they seem to be always paying / fighting. Well the X growls or barks then they play and Bella barks back and has nipped the x at times, the only way I seem to be able to control this is by saying no to both of them and standing over them.

Do I need to worry at all,is this all just play or are they going to have a proper fight?

It sounds like play, but you're right to step in when it gets too rough. Eventually they'll sort themselves out, and you'll get a bit of piece!

Well it seems that the moment they come in from even a long walk they are at it. Would you say it is normal?

Yes, it's normal. They're still getting to know each other & sorting out who's top dog!

Obviously, as I say, keep an eye on it & if it gets too rough or seems to be getting out of control then step in.

As long as it isn't allowed to get out of hand, it should settle down over the next few weeks.

It's just Bella wanting to play Smile Jack is the same with out maltese/poodle and she gets annoyed with him. I do what you do in saying saying no and standing in between them. I've done that from day one and it helps.....they don't fight as much and both a comfortable sitting next to each other on the couch...here's proof... https://staffy-bull-terrier.niceboard.com/t10377-odd-choice-for-a-pillow Tongues

To me that just sounds like play, my two play very rough with pinning each other down and nipping.

Sounds like play to me as well. Just keep an eye on it and seperate them if you feel uncomfortable. You may want to keep them seperated if you are not at home just to be safe and so that you won't worry
