hi everyone, finally got Alfie on a dry food he enjoys and will eat regularly he's on Wainwrights salmon and potato, I don't know what everyone thinks of wainwrights? the write ups I have read have been good and alfs coat and general wellbeing are brilliant, even put a few lb on, so today the sample I ordered from trophy foods arrived, it was a while ago and I forgot I ordered them, the duck and veg he wolfed down, has anyone heard of trophy pet foods? or know anything about them ? thanks

Dont look great to be honest, its certainly not the worst I have seen either though.

Potato (min 55%), Duck Meat (min 25%), Duck Oil, Peas, Beet Pulp, Whole Linseed, Seaweed, Vitamins and Minerals, Chicory, Glucosamine & Chondroitin, MSM, Antioxidants added: Tocopherol rich extracts of natural origin – Vitamin E.

Potato being the main ingredient is my main concern though, would be better to see a much higher meat content. Nice to see it has Glucosamine & Chondroitin which is great for older dogs with joint problems. But min 55% Potato is really not great when you see it says min 25% Duck.

Fish4Dogs example
Salmon 30.5%, Potato 30.5%, Herring Meal 21.4%, Salmon Oil 7.6%, Beet Fibre 6.4%, Brewers Yeast 2.1%, Minerals 0.8%, Vitamins 0.7%

Only 30% potato and 30% Salmon with 21% Herring Meal aswell. Dont get me wrong there are better examples than fish4dogs but thats just what we use so thought I would use that as an example.

This reveiw site is a good place to get some insight on good dry foods.

Yeah its pretty good, tho still not great. It has grain in which can cause allergy issues. Though I assume your not having any problems. Also the fish content still not that high really, although the potato level is lower it uses other fillers instead so its no better, I would say your first choice is slightly better but not by much.

I aint the best at analising food although have a reasonable idea though and someone else may totally disagree but thats my opinion on the food.

Salmon Protein (min. 23%), Potato (min. 21%), Sorghum, Whole Grain Barley (min. 10%), Atlantic Fish Meal, Whole Linseed (min. 4%), Sugar Beet Pulp (min. 5%), Sunflower Oil, Dicalcium Phosphate, Alfalfa, Natural Seawood (min. 0.5%), Sodium Chloride, Potassium Chloride, Methionine, Marigold Extract, Yucca Extract, Rosemary Extract.

Just had to edit my previous post as realised I had used the ingredients from the wainrights salmon and rice puppy instead of adult, an the differ quite a bit supprisingly.
