File Type Parameters
Supported file types:
- Images – gif, jpg, jpeg, png, bmp. Photobucket converts bmp files, which are not appropriate for the Internet, to jpg files, which are. The Image Editor does not retain the animation in animated .gif files.
- Videos – 3g2, 3gp, 3gp2, 3gpp, 3p, asf, avi, divx, dv, dvx, flv, gif, moov, mov, mp4, mpeg4, mpg4, mpe, mpeg, mpg, m4v, mts, f4v, qt, wmv, xvid, rm. All video files are converted to mp4 format when you upload them.
Note: Photobucket does not keep the original format of the video and only makes the video available via the links provided in your album.
- swf – SWF file uploads are limited to Pro account holders. SWF files must be 10MB or less and can only be uploaded through the Image & Video Uploader, the non-Flash image uploader, or via FTP. If you want to upload SWF files into your Photobucket album, we recommend that you upgrade to a Pro account.
Your file type must have the correct file extension and internal file type or your upload will fail. If you have a media file with an extension that is not on the supported list, use a graphic/image or video editor and try to convert it into a supported file type, then save it as the new file type, with the appropriate extension. Image Limits: Free Accounts: 1MB each or 1024 x 768 resolution Pro Accounts: 20MB each or 4000 x 3000 resolution Video Limits 500 MB or less, and 10 minutes or less. If you purchased or otherwise obtained a video, it may be protected by Digital Rights/Restrictions Management (DRM) and cannot be uploaded to Photobucket. If your video (and accompanying audio) is not copyrighted, and it meets the size limits, you can upload it. Animated GIF Limits 10MB and/or 800 frames.
