Should be raised to match the same as if they were human in my opinion but it’s a start!

Coming closer now

https://news.sky.com/story/government-draft-tougher-animal-cruelty-laws-after-sentience-row-11167159

but if it were up to me I'd hang anybody convicted of the worst forms of animal abuse. The people who do it are parasites on the earth and they need to be treated like parasites.

I still can't believe they opted out of that law to start with I was furious. I wish they hadn't of listed those cases :'( but glad its being upped! 6 months is just appalling.

It's great news but again I think it's not long enough. Personally I'd do exactly the same to what the evil scrum do to animals. Starve an animal I'll happily watch while they starve.

Just had a thought in relation to the government saying that animals aren’t sentient beings.. none of them must have a dog or cat even as how do they explain when their pet actually chooses to snuggle up to you and do a snooze rather than picking anywhere in the house? Or know when you’re getting ready to leave the house and they look sad

Have a look at Switzerland (amongst other countries) who voted their law back in 2008.
If obliging pet owners to keep certain species as multiple individuals for natural socializing isn’t recognition of animals being sentient beings ! (Gotta hope to be reincarnated as a guinea pig in Switzerland)
And getting owners to follow “training” to keep dogs just might save a few from the spontaneous acquisition followed by abandoning cycle
