Introducing our new rescue staffy

Hey all,
We took the plunge and adopted a gorgeous 2 year old rescue staffy, we are new to the breed and look forward to learning from you all.
Our Staffy (Kami) has adapted very well and has a beautiful temperament, we are having issues with her pulling on a lead and getting very excitable when seeing cats or other dogs, she doesn't appear to be aggressive to other dogs, but its far to excitable to be able for her to great them, on two occasions she has growled at particular dogs…I will be looking forward to having a look at your forum topics to see what can help us out.

Hi and welcome from Misty and I. Congratulations from us on the rescue, Kami looks utterly gorgeous! Kami sounds exactly the same as my Misty- she came to us in Feb when she was 14 months and was never walked etc etc. When we first got her she would bark or growled at EVERY single dog she saw and most people, it was a fearful bark- she just wanted to be removed from the dogs or have the dogs removed from her. It became quite embarrassing even walking her, however now she is absoutely brilliant- she just wants to meet and play with every dog she sees which again can be a bit embarrasing but Id take that over the barking which can be misinterprated by some other owners. I cant offer any advice on the pulling- Misty can be very bad for that- I think she is still excited about getting walks as she didnt have any for the first 14 months of her life!
