maybe I've just got no sense of smell , Tommy is nearly 18 months now and never had a wash / bath , Tilly is over 3 and only 1 time when very young , definitely not smelly in the slightest

Maybe bathing her so much isn't helping? She shouldn't be getting smelly a couple of days after a bath. Have you tried brushing her? I try and brush Daisy every week and it keeps her coat soft and clean Smile

Hmmm, I'm worried now cos I've never washed Lola and Chloe, nor brushed them as they have minimal fur, and they smell gorgeous. Well......... I think my hubby washed Chloe's neck once when she rolled in something horrendous, but apart from that they seem to be self-cleaning! (OK I must be in love with them I guess!!!!) But, truly they smell lovely :-) My youngest when he came home last said he would only ever get a Staffie cos they smell so sweet :-)

Some dogs smell a lot stronger than others, just like people!

Ahh, when they're wet they smell a little bit in the car but just rub her down with a towel when you get home and the smell will disappear as soon as she's dry.

Ledger has only been bathed when he rolled in fox poo or after his swimming lesson when a shampoo was included. Yes there is a damp dog aroma when he is wet but I wouldn't say so much that he smells, his bedding certainly can develop a whiff if it goes too long without a wash but the only place I really notice his doggy smell is the car

Douglas doesnt get washed normally. I dont think it's good for his skin. The only exception is when he has been rolling in something disgusting (as last week - a dead sheep). I think SBTs are relatively un-smelly dogs. Some of the big hair breeds - spaniels, retrievers - have a much stronger odour. If there is a persistent pong, it could indicate poor health. Bad teeth, for example, may smell. Then the vet may need to advise. If a dog really does have to be cleaned off, I think it's best to use something unperfumed so as not to overload their own amazing sense of smell.

Ok. When I was at the vet's last week (eye infection for Doug) there was a poster on the wall that said not to feed bones. Just passing it on. I dont think all the 'experts' agree on this subject, though cooked bones are worse than raw for splintering or causing internal injuries. I hope you can get something tasty for Lola.

My 2 love pigs liver which is cheap. They have pigs liver 2 nights, beef mince 2 nights, sardines in oil 1 night, and chicken 2 nights, all mixed with a bit of Wainwrights kibble with a little bit of fish oil for Lola. The 2 dogs are cheaper to feed than the 4 cats (if I disregard the Markies, Gravy Bones & peanut butter.....)
