Blindfolded
For a few weeks now i'v been working with Taz with him being blindfolded so he uses his nose and he can relax in weird situations like being blindfolded/blinded like he knows his way around my flat without using his eyes etc he's been fine so far and I know that dogs mainly rely on their scent and i also think their eyes get them into trouble, so i'v been thinking Taz and Cassie has vets monday and he gets really worked up by the sight of dogs and it really stresses him out so i'm thinking about blindfolding him while at the vets obviously i'll be in control of him so hes not guna react badly by a touch he can't see coming etc I was just wondering if anyone thought it a good or bad idea.

Re: Blindfolded
From working with him he's very accepting i can put anything on him and he'll just take it so i know he'll be calm about that but being in a different place i'm not too sure i just don't want to be thought of as cruel really in a way i know alot of people wont understand, but i'v worked all him and Cassie with tethering so if they ever get caught in something like wire on their foot etc they won't struggle and make it worse and they will just relax.

Sounds exactly like Molly, she hates anything near her head, other than a collar, or bandanna!

Re: Blindfolded
If he's comfortable with it, and you think it will help, then give it a try - it doesn't matter what others think! If he starts to react badly you can always take it off.

Re: Blindfolded
Wow what lovely day at the vets, the blindfold worked miracles he sat or laid there so relaxed and content he could hear and smell other dogs (three staffs, 1 greyhound, collie and a mutt atleast 4 different terriers in her blood) Taz was amazing i can't believe what a difference it really made. highly recommended the vet commented on their condition and said their in great health and they look great too, 2 jabs later and we out of there.
