Annoying little dog next door!
Me (again) (again)
One more quickie.
Our next door neighbour has a very yappy yorkshire terrier that yaps constantly. Yesterday, whilst Winnie was in the garden in the middle of going to the toilet, the dog started yapping whilst in its garden and Winnie stopped mid flow and darted straight off back into the house then peed on her blanket in doors! She really does seem to get quite frightened when this dog is in its garden. Do you think I should get them to meet face to face (if of course, the yorkie is friendly with other dogs), Otherwise how will I overcome this because I don't want Winnie being afraid to be in her garden when this dogs in hers.

Re: Annoying little dog next door!
I think getting them to meet face to face will be a plus. and i can not see the yorkie harming a pup adults harming pups is quite rare they often take them under their wing, sure the yorky may be snappy but i doubt contact or harm will be made.

Re: Annoying little dog next door!
It might be worth, as Rogue says letting them meet. Perhaps bring the yorkie round to your house (with its owner of course!) and let them meet, if the yorkie is quite boistrous then take them outside or let your pup go up to it in her own time. Usually it would be better to meet on neutral ground in these situations, however you havn't got this option. Many dogs will be more dominant in their own territory but as Winnie is frightened of the other dog and is being submissive it might give her more confidence to mee tthe yorkie in her own garden.

Re: Annoying little dog next door!
Claire Ty is petrified of the Yorkie up the road from me he gets put in the front garden sometimes and when me and Ty walk past Harry the Yorkie barks and Ty is off like a shot dragging me behind him. It s quite funny to see a staff run from a dog a quarter his size but Ty will not go near him. I hope if they do meet face to face that you have more look than me, I have tried stopping in front of the gate so they can see each other but Ty has none of it lol good luck.

Re: Annoying little dog next door!
Lol I have the opposite, there are 2 different houses that have yappy dogs both usually out and kept behind a metal gate in there gardens, Moo pulls and pulls when we get near these certain gates and whether the dogs there or not she stands there staring in at the gate, unfourtunatly one of the dogs went for Moo a while back, nasty thing it was but hasn't put her off almost teasing them "I am out here and your stuck in there" lol

Re: Annoying little dog next door!
Trouble is I dont think she will associate the dog with the noise. Its probably because she was in mid flow therefore in a vulnerable state and then shes not herd the bark before she will get used to it and other noises
