OK, so Odey is around 7 months now, and since I don't work he's around my pretty much
24/7. However me and my husband do need to go out sometimes without him, though never
for more than 2 hours.
We put him in the kitchen, (tiled floors!) with his bed, a toy, and something special and tasty to
keep him occupied, but everytime we come back, even 10minutes later, he's done at least one poo
and one wee.
We let him out and make sure he does his business before we go, we tried things like frozen peanut butter
bones thinking it would keep his attention, but it just doesn't get any better. His best one yet was four poo's
and one wee in one sitting!

I've tried not letting him follow me around the house (shutting doors after me etc) and not giving him as much
attention, and he seems ok with that, but as soon as we leave him, we're back to square one!!

Any ideas please, I'm sick of coming home and having to hold my nose lol.

No idea how to over come this but Your puppies look adorable Big Grin

When I first started to train Daisy I crate trained her too because they don't like to wee and poop in their bed, so it was sort of killing two birds with one stone.

your put is going through his second fear period, it is normal fo rhim to be like this but that doesn't mean it is acceptable to us.

I never stop my dogs from following me, I do try to be very boring if I have a clingy dog. I get on with what I am doing and ignore the dog, the only time I speak is to ask him to move. 5 dogs in the bathroom isn't recommended. Laughing

Eventually my dog will go off and do his own thing, this is what I want, the confidence to go and do his own thing. Once he is doing this I can then start to work on leaving him by going out for 1 minute, if he is fine extend it to 2, etc.

I always leave the radio or tv on when I go out as well, I have them on all day so my dogs are used to them, they are not used to the house being quiet.

While these have worked in the past they didn't work for Cyril, he trashed everything he could when left so I started to take him with me instead, I hate leaving a dog in a car but I couldn't afford to replace what he trashed. Now I can leave him without a problem.

@ Cyril baby - when we first got Daisy we let her follow us where she wanted, this included the bathroom... until she started to copy me... but on the floor (obviously).

I considered this to be very intelligent and did wonder for a while if I should develop a dog loo seat and train her to use it!! Wink

Lol doggie inventor in the making! The radio idea is a good one, I'll have to try that. I have also been trying to ignore him, and leaving the back door open, and he's started going in the garden on his own, which he wouldn't at all before, so I guess that's a start.
Just seems like for a week or so, nothing while he's on his own, then next time there's a million poo's, feel like one step forward and then two back!

I still love him though.... good job he's cute!!

Try a good walk before you leave him. Leave the radio or TV on and work up to leave him longer gradually
