Got my staffy from the airport today!!

So today I FINALLY got my little staffy man. Hes adorable!! We named him Bailey.

Has anyone ever had to pick up a dog from the airport before? It all went smoothly, he was just sick this afternoon after being home for awhile, I am assuming this is normal.

Also, he just came from Alaska where it is kind of blah weather (seems to be a bit cooler than England weather right now) to where I live of around 100F (40C) and just wondered how is the best way to help acclimate him?

Thanks for advice! I feel like I know nothing all of a sudden :/

I'd leave him to sleep it off for a while and he'll aclimatise in time.

Currently England weather is bloody hot lol ! But yes a dog that isn't used to warmer weather can indeed suffer.

Keep pup cool, plenty of water, crushed ice to chew, air con is good ! Or a nice fan he can sit in front of to cool of.

My 2 staffys have their own paddling pool to splash about in too.

Thanks guys... lol I know you guys just got warmer over there my mum is complaining He went from about 15C to 40C lol. Good thing is down here in the south we have air con in the house already so the house feels pretty good, just when I take him outside he gets hot.

I love this little monster already (definitely a monster though). He loves ears.... he loves to chew on faces so got to break that right away! Hes currently sleeping on his back with his zebra teddy again the settee <3

Be careful when u take him on walks, ideally u wanna walk him in the cooler times of the day, early morning/ evening.

he is! I almost called him snorkey cause hes so nasely! haha well so far I have just taken him outside to do busiess (two accidents inside so far). This evening when its much cooler I will take him around the garden to cool off.

I'm sure he will get used to the weather in good time. at least staffys have thin coats so should stay reasonably cool.

Congrats on the new addition. He will acclimate in a few days just keep him cool and have water available.

Congratulaions. New puppies are exciing and especially if they arrive from far away. Since your home is climate controlled he should adapt quickly. I would not take him out for longer than a few minutes at a time during the day and longer at night for awhile.

He's lovely which breeder did you get him from? As others have said if you do have him outside in the day make sure there is plenty of shade for him and fresh water. We usually leave a little paddling pool out for them to get in and cool off. Also we don't make them walk anywhere on hotter days til about 8pm.

Hes doing pretty good with the weather! Which is awesome I will post pics I am just having trouble getting him to settle down sometimes. He thinks the world revolves around him lol. He gets all antsy when hes tired but gets so excited he wont sleep so I have to put him in his crate and he will go right down to sleep.

Trying to break his biting habit... he likes to play bite but its all the time. When hes tired and antsy he tends to nip. Joys of new puppies!!!
