Hi Everybody,
After being a long time browser of the forum its now finally time I need some advice. Junior my 15 week old pup has been doing great, crate trained, toilet trained, outgoing, friendly, great on lead, honestly could not have asked for a better boy. However today had a major setback, he is not too keen on going in the car so after a great walk my girlfriend went to give him a drink of water in his metal bowl outside the car but she accidently dropped it and it made the loudest noise. Well the wee man got the worst scare and lucky I had hold of his lead or he was off. Anyway managed to get him home and he seemed a bit shaky so calmed him down tried to give him a drink of water from the bowl and he scampered. All he has done is sit at the front door all night and does not want to be in the house. Took him outside he was great then as soon as I tried to get him back in he will just sit at the front door. had to carry him in. He wont go in kitchen, doesn't want to be in his crate (always have door open when we are in) shaking quite bad just does not want to be in the house. Any advice as we are so worried about him. Is there any way to calm him down? We are so worried! Any advice would be great. First time poster.

Hello and welcome
you could try hiding the metal bowls and using plastic ones as he may associate the noise with the metal one

Hi and welcome to the forum from Rocky and me.

Try giving him a drink of water out of your hands if you can. He needs your assurance that he is safe with you.

A few drops of lavender oil on his bedding will help to calm him down or some DAP spray if you have it.

Thanks for the quick replys guys! Girlfriend has finally got him settled down and sleeping in his crate. Metal bowls are in the bin so will need to get him a couple of new ones tomorrow. He has been doing great just dont want this to set him back any. Hopefully he will be ok in the morning. You just cant help but worry sometimes. Again thanks for the advice everybody! Will do a proper profile tomorrow and post some pictures of Junior aswell.

Plenty of fussing is the key . especially if he is a nervous dog . He needs to know that you are there to protect him. But having said that there are also boundaries as you don't want to make him mard, but there is no harm in some reassureance. Glad he's ok this morning , he's only a baby Love Struck
