average weight of a staffy pup

What is the average weight for a 8 week old staffy pup?

I heard that "a pound a week" (i.e., a 9 week pup should be about 9 pounds, and so on) is about right.

Any light on this would be appreciated, thanks!!

How long is a piece of string? They are all different.

Yes, dogs are bound to be different, but the difference must occur within a standard lest the animal be found not to conform to the standard.

So, at any stage of development there should be some normal "ranges" in size & weight.

The trouble is, they all grow at different rates. It also depends whether the dog is terrier-type, bully-type or middle-of-the-road.

as caryll says there no standard growth rate my pup was gaining weight slowly then he had a period of about 8 weeks where he was gaining 1kg 2.2 pounds a week so from 8weeks at 1.4 kg to 16.6kg at 26 weeks a weight diff of about 33 pounds in 18 weeks

Yes, the end weight should be as the Kennel Club says:-

"Size
Desirable height at withers 36-41 cms (14 to 16 ins), these heights being related to the weights. Weight: dogs: 13-17 kgs (28-38 lbs); bitches 11-15.4 kgs."

But that's adult weight. There is no such thing as an average weight for a pup - they all grow at different rates.

i was also wondering about this. my pup is 11 weeks and 6kilo's or 13,6pounds

He looks (from pics in another thread) perfectly normal - and gorgeous!

Pumba looks in brilliant shape, Molly went through phases where she didn't put any weight on some weeks, then put on over a kilo one week, as Caryll said, they all grow at different rates, it's the same as a human child. If you're worried, weigh your pup every week and try keep track, ask your vet for a rough guideline, and over all, keep an eye on the dogs body condition. The way it looks says a lot more than it's weight, for example Molly is apparently 2 kg over weight, however if she was to loose 2kg she would be skin and bone and nothing else.

less then two weeks ago when i weighed Blondy she was just under 6kg she got weighed the other day and she is no 7.5kg and is now 5 months but between 2-4 months she didn't seem to be gaining anything much

ye hes around the same weight as memphis at that age so he fine.
he now 7 months and 19kg just over three stone and no fat all muscle
