I love GSD's, I've had 2 of them myself (and a GSD cross) & I like wolves (but I wouldn't want one!). On the whole, though, I'm happier with the bully breeds.

Wow
the same as you can not trust pitbulls/staffy/rotties? they are descendants of the wolf any dog has the ability to snap weither they are more closely related or not as long as you know what your doing. you can not say they will turn just like, close minded people can not say a staffy/rottie/pitbull are evil dogs a dog is a dog before their breed plays a role and if i did have one it wouldn't be in a flat it would have acres of land just like a wolf would want. and if it did ever bite me i would know i'd done something wrong and learn from it.

what shane is saying is there NOT DOG THEY ARE STILL WOLVES so that argument goes out the window.
fair anough if you want one just hopfully you will have anough space for one to roam as they need large secuer areas for them to be happy as they still have the wolf instinct

I understand that part but i'v never heard of a pet wolf attacking its master, that i don't agree with having wild animals as pets but the wolfdog has been domesticated for many years now not as long as other breed sure.

The czechoslovakian wolfdog has only been around for 55 years. In evolutionary terms that's nothing. They will still have too much of the wolf in them for them to be trusted sufficiently with, say, children. Their temperament is difficult:
"Character and behavior
They can easily learn to live besides other domestic animals which belong to the family; however, if they meet strange animals, difficulties can occur. It is vital to sub due their passion for hunting when they are puppies. The puppy should never be isolated in the kennel; it must get used to different surroundings, to traveling and so on. Bitches are easily controllable; dogs often experience a stormy growing-up.
The Czechoslovakian Wolfdog is very playful and temperamental; it learns easily. We can admire its all-around qualities rather than its specialization. However, we should not expect it should train spontaneously, the behavior of the CsV is strictly purposeful - it is necessary to find motivation for training. The most frequent cause of failure is usually the fact that the dog is tired out with long useless repetitions of the same exercise, which results in the loss of motivation. Generally, to teach CsV stable and reliable performance takes a bit more time than does to teach traditional specialized breeds. "
You've never heard of a pet wolf attacking its' master? Where have you been? I watched a tv programme some months ago which showed a guy who had 'adopted' a she-wolf. Although she was outwardly friendly, he never fully trusted her & there were times when he wouldn't go near her. He said that pure bred wolves cannot be fully tamed & they will always have that wild insinct. They are very difficult to train & are unpredictable.

Re: I AM SO SORRY STAFFY LOVERS :(
I love wolf hybrids, they are the most beautiful dogs. My husband wanted one but as much as I love them, I couldnt trust one around my kids. And I get what yr saying bout people having the same perceptions about staffs and rotties etc, but the fact is, they are wolf hybrids and can be extremely unpredictable. They are absolutely stunning though.

you could try your local vet, you have good qualifications and have done some training as a veterinary nurse, they might be able to put you in the right direction even,

I know it isn't easy, is it? You cjoose what you really want to do in life & then you're stuck with "where do I go now?" My daughter wants to do something similar - she'll be going to university september 2012 (we hope) to take a degree in some form of animal studies, but what employment there will be at the end, who knows?
Good luck with the job hunting, maybe soon someone will see the benefit of your experience!

With the national diploma animal managment course there is also business classes when i passed I could of started my own business kennels/catery/ sanctuary but for that your looking at alot of money and im not made of it. So its really relying on employers there mainly looking for volunteers don't get me wrong i'd love to and have but i need to survive as well.
I have been thinking long and hard about dog sitting/training/grooming/walking but around here people just aren't willing to pay for that or they simply can't so its a horrible cycle to be in.

That's the trouble, money's in short supply. Of course with some people it's a case of short arms, deep pockets.
Dog sitting/walking is ok for a bit of extra pocket money if you see what I mean, but it will rarely make you a living unfortunately.
Keep looking, there must be something out there!
