my two male staffies

Post by buddycrew on Fri Jun 06, 2008 7:14 pm

Hi
Im new to this so im afraid ihave got lots of questions, WE have two male staffs one is 3 1/2 yrs and the other is nearly 3 years they are fairly good dogs they used to sleep on our bed but we had someone round who used amichion bonding, we tried this method out but my husband found it quite hard to do as she said we could not allow them on the bed, which was fine we put a dog gate across our door any they are fine with that but it just seemed we couldnt do much with them at all, the eldest dog is quite timid he doesnt like change or things like the hoover or anything new he even gets agitated when my grandchildren come over. sorry about all the question i just want to make sure we are doing the best for the dogs so any advice will be great Smile

Its just a form of establishing the pecking order within the pack from what I can gather, Theres the Dog Whisperer on Sky sometimes he uses all this kind of physcology too, works a treat I think.

Try his site too http://www.cesarmillaninc.com/tips/

NEVER let your dog sleep on your bed either, the "comfy" places are for the pack leaders, the humans.....

Its OK to cuddle him in the morning or whatever but always make sure they go to their own bed when your ready to sleep....

If you do use this method of training IMO your dogs will be much happier as dogs are more followers than leaders....

And always remember to keep a "calm and assertive" energy about you, your dog will pick up on any weakness's within you and try to lead the pack as it thinks its doing right by you as you not stable....

The pack leader is never the one who looses control of any situation and is always calm and assertive in his descisions....

It is that type of training that has got these dogs were they are, They done all the right things, got someone in to help and advice them but because of their training methods the problems became worse and more developed.

I have given her a traine/behaviourist who comes well recomended by a friend of mine who has used her himself and found her to be very good.

There are now too many problems for internet advice.
