I don't think the story is true in any way. The sun love to make up these story's to make out the breed are bad. How can a staff drag a full grown man and pull him around like a rag doll. Maybe a child but not a 14 to 20 stone man, if that what he is. And then kicking the dog. Well the dog would let go. I don't no about this, I think some people love to make these bloody story's up. I would say a rockwiler maybe would do this but not a staff. They are to small to do this.

I get so fed up with these stories, how come we never hear about other breeds attacking people. Just last month my brother had to have his border collie pts cos it bit a jogger in the park,this wasn't in the papers. The amount of dog attacks by other breeds far outways that of the staffy but it's always the poor staffy that hits the headlines. I know i'm going to hear about this from half my family aswell cos when i told them i had bought a staffy they were not best pleased. I love her to bits though and don't care what they say.

Given that the Sun articles are written with vocabulary for reading age 4 or 5 what do you expect? Journalism or something? The only justification for it's existence is the breasts on page 3, other than that it's a pointless waste of trees.

Okay I've had a read at the article and a couple of glaringly obvious clues have led me to a theory.

Clue 1 - the "staffy" picked up a 33 year old guy and shook him around "like a rag doll"

Clue 2 - the woman stabbed the "staffy" repeatedly with a kitchen knife but it took the police to subdue it and kill it.

I'm thinking the guy wasn't attacked by a staffy at all - I think it was actually a bear.

Clue 3 - the article was written by a sun journo who probably doesn't have the mental capacity to tell the difference between an SBT and a grizzly.

Martin - I've seen staffies in "the Mode" but for a supposed family pet to grab it's owner and be in that frame of mind would take something to have gone seriously wrong.

Here is the post who can't see it.

A YOUNG mum was forced to stab her pet dog with a kitchen knife - as it savagely mauled her husband.
Frantic Mary Weir, 27, repeatedly plunged the blade into Staffordshire terrier Tizer after it attacked her spouse Andrew.

Last night Mary told how she feared the manic beast was going to kill her partner as it dragged him around like a rag doll for 15 minutes.

The mum-of-four said: "The dog wouldn't let go. Andrew has wounds all over his body and there was blood everywhere. I thought he was going to die before my eyes."

Mary added: "I tried everything, including shouting and kicking it to loosen its bite.

"The knife was the only option left. The dog still didn't stop biting Andrew so I stabbed Tizer again and again and finally he let go."

The dog suddenly lunged at student Andrew, 33, at the family's flat in Paisley on Wednesday night.

Brave Mary made sure her two young kids were safe before tackling the animal. It was eventually snared and brought under control by a police dog handler and put down.

Andrew was rushed to the high dependency unit at Paisley's Royal Alexandra Hospital where his condition was described as "serious".

His younger brother Steven said: "The whole family are still in shock. Andrew did his best to stop the dog from hurting anyone but himself, and he has been very brave.

"We will find out the full extent of his internal injuries later. Doctors have told us more surgery may be needed. We are all very worried."

I'd need a bit more evidence before I'd be convinced that anything happened at all. Maybe a playground rumour or the ramblings of an old demented person. Something that carries a bit more credibility than a Sun report.

Dont know the paper P3, (our Herald sun is great but have some crappy ones here to) but I would assume that for any paper to make a report like that that "something" happened to report a woman stabbing her dog?

Not a safe assumption where our tabloids are concerned I'm afraid. This is the same newspaper that once ran a frontpage headline accusing a TV personality of eating a hamster. The only information that you could draw safely from this story is that there may or may not exist a woman called Mary Weir who may or may not have a husband called Andrew. They may not have owned a dog.

Loads of people Tracy if you went out and bought 7 newspapers on one day they would all have a different ending to a story. None of which would necessarily be the true one.

I think we best leave that for when she's a bit older Watts. And for the record tabloids aren't there to give people news they're there to tell them what to think. If it wasn't for the tabloids three quarters of this country would have never experienced an opinion before or (worse still) they'd have had to come up with one of their own and the government does not want that kinda thing happening en masse. Better if they just read the paper and it tells them how they feel about illegal immigrants and the war in Afghanistan and stuff like that.

Tracy the Sport, and the Sunday Sport are nothing whatsoever to do with sport, its a newspaper (sort of) with headlines such as Brad Pitt fathered my octuplets using long distance sperm carrier pigeons. Or Giant 7 headed staffy savages school bus full of children and carries them away to feed his young... every other page is T and A and the problem page its well "fabricated" greatly...

They do here oxide, mostly anyway! Some papers like our " age" or "the herald" are great for Aussie & world news. They only employ true journalists, who trully respect reporting, & dont spin ka ka! (rubbish).

If I want to know what's going on in the world I have the internet. Newspapers are just a waste of trees - a relic of an age when information was hard to come by. They're also much easier for state or commercial interests to control so the pipedream of free press died years ago. The net hasn't been completely co-opted yet so that's where I go if I want to find out what's going on.
