Puppy almost killed after gang batters her repeatedly

A puppy was beaten to within an inch of its life by a gang of tiny children.

The four and five year olds repeatedly battered the terrified Staffordshire bull terrier with a stick.

They only stopped when a passerby chased them off and found 10- week-old Meg cowering in pain.

The puppy survived after an operation but she is likely to have her hind leg amputated as the nerve damage is so severe.

RSPCA centre boss Jean Spencer said: "I've never heard of such terrible animal cruelty.

"The age of the children makes it absolutely sickening. They should know the difference between right and wrong. If they're doing this at four and five, just imagine what they'll be doing aged 14 and 15."

The passer-by, who does not want to be named, spotted the attack in fields in Rochdale, Lancs.

Meg is on the mend but must live in a cage at Rochdale RSPCA so as not to injure herself.

Jean added: "She is very upset and regularly whimpers with pain.

"Despite the distress, she is a lovely puppy. All she wants is to be hugged and kissed and cared for."

whats the world coming too? I have to stop my son going round 'kissing' all dogs we meet, can't imagine how these kids are dragged up if they have that mentality to cruelty already !!

I blame the parents, id string my 2 lads up if i found out they had done something like that, i had to teach my youngest not to hit misty and bronson when he was a pup if they bit him while playing, this is the state of englands society and its not going to get better any time soon

shame that this is the day and age now...
now if it was the dog that bite of the of the kid the poor dog whuld have been put down.....
were is the justice...........

I feel so gutted for poor Meg when staffords are so trusting and loyal to have this treatment from the children they are so well known to love.
I feel even sorrier for the children that did this as they probably had more love from the dog they beat than their supposed parents.
4 & 5yr olds shouldnt be left to thier own devices on the streets, especially as a lot go missing and are never seen again.
I have to blame the parents! or a sad excuse for one!)

This story made us feel sick to our stomachs. You only have to look at the picture to see what a beautiful girl Meg is. Hopefully she'll make a full recovery and settle down into the loving home she fully deserves.

Ahh bless her, its so sad, A ferrel pack of 4-5yr olds could be so cruel!
