devil dogs...destroy the savage *******!

i was told about this today when walking my dog by another staffie owner
its an artlical in the sun news paper and getting a lot of responce

It really winds me up when people don't do their homework before mouthing off. Yes, staffys were used for bull baiting and fighting but how many other breeds have "affectionate with children" in their breed standard? When will they learn that it's the owner that is responsible for the dog's behaviour? It is the minority of staffy owners that give the rest of us responsible owners a bad name.

I haven't read the whole discussion yet but it's encouraging to see on the first page that a lot of the people responding don't go along with the 'ban the devil dogs' line. In fact the majority there say that the owners, not the breed, should be blamed.

I give up with people like that...they are so narrow minded the only thing that will change their view is if the press change theirs!

The press play a huge role in the way our breed are perceived...but unfortunately good stories don't make the headlines.

Why do you never hear about Retriever bites in the news paper? Firstly, they bite more people each year than any other breed, but secondly is beacuse the press haven't created the 'devil dog' image for it.

my roxy is so loving towards our children we have had her since a pup and shes now 8 months old all 3 of my kids and roxy have a great bond with each other. i could never imagine not having her in the family.

as for the thread at the sun the first post was just from complete ignorence there are not bad dogs there are just bad owners

when a dog is born it knows nothing and has to learn just like a child would now if the teacher is good then the dog becomes a great family addtion
if the teacher is bad then then dog can live a distructive life giving the rest a bad name

one thing i can see from the sun thread is that the mojority of posters are for the staff which is good

the thing with the press is that 10 good things can be out weighed by just one bad thing and as we all know the press thrive of stuff like this

one day "i hope" people will realise its not the dog but the owner

i just can't believe some people that think banning a breed will stop dog attacks, bad owner will just move to another breeds or just keep a ban dog it's not solving the problem at all, i dont think bring back a dog license willn't help too i dont think we got anuff money to enforce it and most bad owners love breaking the laws, the only way you going prolly stop dog attack is getting tougher on bad owners like if your dog attack anybody then you are looking at time not like 6 months or fines 5-10 years like if you would if you was carrying a shotgun around the streets then review it in 2-3 years if it still the same get tougher again 10-15 years. that the only way i can see how to solve this problem

the law needs to get tougher with them

Having a dog trained to attack IS a loaded gun IMO
