Very bad news once again, I know you shouldn't really judge without all the facts but it's a toilet of an area full of chavs and scum where dogs have become status symbols, it was one of my regular stomping grounds in my days as a bailiff and the streets were always full of dogs (and chavs) under no control at all. Hope the poor child recovers.

1st news item I saw when I woke up this morning, very sad for the parents I must say.

Makes me feel like there's no point in leaving the house this weekend as it'll be all dirty looks as if we've done something wrong.

I saw this on GMTV this morning "Two Staffordshire Bull Terriers" apparently. The neighbours kids used to feed them biscuits through the fence and wouldn't have thought this would happen according to reports. Doesn't sound right to me. Such a shame for the child.

99% of these attacks happen when a small child is left alone with a dog/dogs. I wouldn't leave ANY dog alone with a child, whether it be a Pug/Labrador/Jack Russell or whatever.

Dog breeds which were originally bred for fighting and baiting will ALWAYS be demonized by the media. It'd be interesting to see how many dog attacks happen everyday and how many are actually carried out by so-called fighting dogs.

well that throws more light on the incident the owner of the dogs arrested for cultivating cannabis, well now it turns out that these 'crazed' bull terriers were not family ets as ours are but status dogs trained to guard his 'stash'... i am so sorry for the poor baby and i hope he recovers well

Poor dogs let down by owners yet again.

Lets hope the child pulls through, there has been enough tragedy as it is

hi everyone ive just signed up so my first post i heard of this yesterday and now all the facts have come out about the bloke using them as guard dogs for his drugs and then the mother leaves a 2 yr old with them while in another room with the uncle is crazy. i feel for the child and the family but mostly for the dogs, a dog should be a family member for eveyone to enjoy not to keep your stash safe, but not only that what was the mother thinking knowing that they are guard dogs its crazyness. but also makes me angry because yet again such a lovely breed get knocked down again, if it was a yorshire terrier nothing would have been said.

Poor child and poor dogs. I really feel for all concerned. Bradford is near me and I wouldn't go there in the day never mind at night. Hate it when this happens to Staffies. More bad press and more opinionated people. angry

There must be tighter controls on Dog ownership. Owning a Dog is BIG responsibilty and lot of these knuckle-dragging "Bad Bwoyz" must be prevented from owning ANY dog, never mind a so-called "dangerous breed".
How many "Staffy" puppies do you see in the bargain pages or local paper? £100 with no papers? What I'm getting at is there's no way of telling EXACTLY what your getting when you turn up to someone's house, hand over £100 and take a puppy home.
Not that there's anything wrong with a dog without papers, it's just that I feel a lot better having a pup from a genuine, caring breeder.
There's a LOT of cheap pups available now and they're perfect for scumbags who want to use them in this way.
Obviously, the way you bring your dog up isimportant BUT, the dogs temperement must also be called into question.

I'm not being snobby or digging at anyone who has a pup without papers as we all love our dogs and treat them properly, regardless of whether they have papers or not, I just mean it's a lot easier for the local chavscum lout to go out and buy a pup with his drug/dole/incapacity benefit money.

Hope I haven't offended anyone and I hope you get what I'm saying

Our 9 day-old son died in July so I can understand what you are going through, worst time of our lives, horrible time and something which you don't think you'll ever make it through. If it wasn't for our 2 sons, I doubt we would have made it. Our thoughts are with you.

Incapacity benefit is for those who need it, like yourself. It's a shame there are so many leg swingers who sponge off the system. I can guarantee you that the owner/Cannabis cultivator was either on -
A) The Dole
B) Incapacity Benefit

This Makes Me soo Mad no wunder people dont like staffies, but it not there fault, its how they a raised!!!

earlier this year i took a staffie from a young lad who wasnt looking after her properly && she was never getting fed, she was a mess. you cud see all her bones. he had taught her to go out and kill cats for food!!i had her for 2 weeks & she was the best dog ever. I was so upset when she went to staffie rescue but there was no way i could keep her (i have 4 cats). if it wasnt for him she would of been fine living here with me & my cats i still miss her now but i know shes happy with her new family
