Update On Patch
Right just back from the Vets!
We have been given some ear drops as he has started to scratch at his ear alot until he wimpers and it bleeds, so we have some Canaural drops for him, to put in his ear once a day for a week to help clear it up. She said also that because he has small ear canals he is likely to get alot of ear infections as he gets older is this true?
As for his Poo's she said, they will send off a sample but it sounds like its something to do with his diet as the chicken and rice didnt work it could be his main diet or something he is allergic to that he is eating outside when on walks. She also said staffs are prone to inflammatory problems as well, who true is this?
I was told to just keep him on his kibble until we hear back from the poo examination thing.
What i was thinking was to possible change over his food, what do you think?

Re: Update On Patch
I'd wait until the results get back, if he was allergic to brewers yeast for example you could then find a food without any in. I have to be honest and say I've never heard of small ear canals before (unless this is the staffy ear that Kara was on about) but my nans dog has ear infections if she eats too much yeast (which is what made me think of it)
I believe Arden Grange has no yeast in but you'd have to check. And wait for the results, you don't want him to get worse rather than better

Re: Update On Patch
Yer we will wait and see, hopefully it will be just an allergy problem which we can fix with a diet change. Could it be the yeast that gives him the iffy tummy also (presuming it was something like a yeast intolerance)

Re: Update On Patch
Hi there
Just read your post and thought i would add to the thread by saying with ear infections make sure you treat the feet as well as the ear. I know it may sound silly but if your boy scratches his ear with his foot he will transmit the bacteria etc causing the infection on to his foot. Although you may be treating the ear and it may get better the chances of it returning is high as the bacteria live son in his foot!
Thorn it powder is a great treatment which you can buy on the internet or in some pet stores. It can be put on both feet and in ears to kill the infection
As Jo has said re yeast it makes sense and it may be the cause all round. I agree i would do as the vet says and wait till you get the results back
Hope he feels better soon

You'll have to keep him off the beer if he is alergic to yeast.
