Up date Bubbles has got Kennel Cough

Took bubbles to the vet today and found out he has got Kennel Cough. That's all I need with this going on and Dad died. Any way they gave me drugs to help get rid of it, this will last up to 8 days. They say not to walk him far and if I see another dog to pass them not near each other as they can get it. She did say that bubbles won't get it again once he has it. I don't no if this is true or not. I did thought he was ill because he had eaten some acorns but the vet said that are not not bad for him. So much I no about things then. I thought they where bad for dogs. That's what I have read up on.

Hope he gets well soon!!! Oreo Just had it Spent my last £50 on his 20 tablets teehee . . . But It went very quickly And he seems fine now. Hope he gets back to his usual self asap!

Poor Bubbles - Diesel must be very unfortunate as he caught it twice - but we do live very near a dog rescue centre.

It is highly contagious so don't let Bubbles near another pooch - although it is also air bourne too

We were told to buy a childrens cough medicene to help sooth the throat by our vet - has your vet recommend this for bubbles?

Not that good. The drugs they have giving him seem to made it worse. I see what happens over the weekend.

Out of curiosity what drugs have they given? I'm just curious as I am presuming Ruby will get it at sometime or another?

Anitimicrobial Baytril 1 1/2 tablets a day for 8 days.

You should be able to claim but it would depend on the level of cover and how much is the excess - I think petplan is now £80

If you have any doubts - just give them a ring and ask if you did claim what implications could this have on this policy and any future policies xx

Well bubbles has still got kennel cough. Should I take him to the vets again on Monday.

Oh poor bubbles. I'd call the vet & just let them know as they will ask you to take bubbles in if they think he needs to be seen again.

Get well soon bubbles Im not sure if you can claim on pet plan.It will all depend on how much it costs in the end.My excess is £65.

Yep keep him away from other dogs cuz its super-infectious! However dont think the vet should have told you he couldnt get it again, he PROBABLY wont get the exact same strain again but he can definately get kennel cough again! Vaccine 4 KC are only meant to last up to 8weeks.

So sorry to hear Bubbles is poorly, i do hope he gets better soon big hugs


On another note, not quite sure what planet your vet is on but please for the love of God don't walk your dog, don't take your dog out of your own garden.

KC is like the flu in humans and is Very infectious. My vets won't even let dogs in the surgery that they suspect has it and make the owners wait in the car until the surgery is empty prior to the dog entering!

The medication you have will help. That aside there really isn't much you can do except let it runs its course.

I wouldn't take him back to the vets as there really is nothing more they can do.

My guys have had once and it was awfull so i know it can behard to watch them being ill but really you can't do anything else

How is Bubbles today?

Took bubbles to the vet and he still thinks there is a tiny bit of kennel cough there. They gave me Nisamox, 250mg, two times a day for 7 days. If this does not work then there will be xrays and and look down his throat. I can claim from this but they said it's best to wait till it clears up. Hope it goes away.

Well I don't think he's got kennel cough. He's bin on tablets for 2 weeks now and still have a cough, so I will phone up the vet and see them again today. He did say that they will do an xray for him to see if there is any thing stuck. Lucky ive got insurance to pay for this all.
