Patch and Wainwrights

Post by Mattchewone on Sat 31 Oct 2009, 17:31

Patch has been on wainwrights since we got him when he was 8 weeks. He has been fine on it and eats it all and has a lovely coat and is generally happy. Recently he has been having rather loose poo's and im not sure what it is. We tried rice and chicken and that cleared it up, then we put him back on wainwrights and he has gone loose again.

Today he has had 4 poos two rather large and soft and the others small and soft/runny.

Any idea's should we try another food?

Matt

We did about a month ago which we think started this as the vets said it may have upset his tummy and we should of bought the worming stuff from them.

possibly, because they have a worming tablet based on their age/weight of the dog. just see if it settles down, as he is happy in himself, mite just be coz of the change then change again, im sure he will be fine.

You could try mixing some rice in with it and then gradually decreasing the amount of rice until its all kibble again. Also try giving him some natural yoghurt - just a spoonful in a morning that might help settle his tummy

I would give him about a tablespoon full and let him lick it off the spoon at first he might not like it, then feed him a short while after that.

it could be worms, Toby went thru a little spat like this. they have to be wormed every month until their 6 months old. i tried rice and chicken for ages with no result. you'v just got to keep an eye on him as they can dehydrate real fast esp as hes so young.

I think its really good, his coat is fantastic, soft and shiny. He is not overly hyper but still playful. He never leaves any! I mean he will go mad and bark for ages if he even gets one under the washing machine he loves it!

Got 1.5 worming tablets for patch today which he had before his dinner. So hopefully this will help (if it is this that is giving him a loose tummy).

When should i worm him again?

4 weeks from today. Then up it to every 12 weeks or more often if he tends to eat nasty things...

The ones we got from the vets are Drontal Plus are these good? Cost us £6 for the two tablets.

Do you think this may help his tummy? I will try rice and get some yogurt this week also.
