Poor thing! Additives or fillers in dog food (ie. grains) can cause allergies in dogs. My boy used to lick his feet quite a bit until I put him on a raw diet! If your girls already are on a raw diet then maybe it is something in their environment?

Hope that helps a little Smile

Hi Taz wave I had the same thing with my boy from puppy hes nearly three. He still chews his paws from time to time. Like you many vets bills later and changes of food nothing worked. As he got older it got better. When he was younger hed chew his feet till he limped and no matter how many times he was told off he still did it. And he scratched his ears bald. I got some Johnsons - Tea Tree skin calm spray which soothes and calms itchy skin. Which did help. My boys was an allergy to something, i even changed my washing powder in case it was that. Allergies are hard to nail down. It could be dietry or enviromental. I have heard that organic cider vinegar is really good for the coat, can be added as a supplement and on the coat and is very good medicinally for all sorts of ailments, humans too! I will find the link and post in RE- coat and skin. Keep us up-dated to how she is getting on. Smile

My puppy was suffering from the same type of skin allergy, or so I thought. Bree was biting on her legs and top of her tail area until it would bleed. I even sprayed bitter lime and that did nothing.

I took her to the vet and they did a skin scrape in the areas that she was scratching. They looked at it under the microscope and found that it was actually a type of Mange Parasite. She was put on oral antibiotics for 30 days and it cleared right up! She no longer scratches and is parasite free.

Itchy staffies

Post by jorange on Fri Apr 04, 2008 9:45 pm

Hi I have two staffies a black/brindle boy and a pure red girl. My girl gets terrible allergies, hair falls out, itchy and raw skin. I read that it was a Canida bug in their system that is activated with the warmer weather. I try to keep it controlled with enzymes and pure food but it is still apparrent. She is perfect during the winter and starts to break out during spring. I would love to fix it as I hate to see her uncomfortable.
